UConn basketball is comprised of three seasons. Can you name them??
Season 1 - The regular season. This includes all home, away and neutral court games against out of conference and in conference games.
Season 2 - The conference tournament. This comprises the games against conference opponents to determine the conference champion. UConn does very well in this season. They are 5-0 in the AAC.
Season 3 - The NCAA tournament. No team, and I mean NO TEAM has been as successful as UConn in this season. 11 national championships. Enough said.
Season 1 was a mixed bag. 26-3 is terrific, but those three losses to the number 1,2 and 3 teams in the rankings were difficult to swallow. For most team, that is just a great season. UConn is not most teams.
Season 2 is upon us and UConn should win this one again. I just can't see any of the AAC teams making it even close in these games.
Season 3 should be interesting. Until the official brackets are announced, we really won't know what it will take to get to another final four.
Three season. So far 1-0. Two more to go!
In a great game, Paige Bueckers Hopkin's HS team won in their sectional final game against Wyzata HS 86-76.
Paige had 33 points (10-19 FG, 2-4 3-PT, 11-11 FT), 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks.
A few members of the Minnesota Timberwolves including Karl Anthony-Towns were in attendance and boy, were they impressed with Paige. It's quite something when NBA players come to see you. She is something special.
So far this season, our freshman, Anna & Aubrey, have scored 227 and 178 points respectively. Recognizing that as many as 9 games remain (3 AAC tourny & maybe 6 in NCAA), how does that total compare to recent freshman season? For example, Moriah Jefferson scored 182 points her first season. How about some others:
* Morgan Tuck scored 225 pts for a 6.4per game average.
* Saniya Chong scored 183 pts or 4.7 per game.
* Gabby Williams scored 316 pts or 8.3 per game.
* Kia Nurse scored 399 pts or 10.2 per game.
* Naphessa Collier scored 258 pts or 6.8 per game.
* Crystal Dangerfield scored 188 pts or 6.1 per game.
Anna has a per game average of 7.8 points. Aubrey is at 6.1 per game. Given up to 9 more games this season, both could move past some very good players in their first season. Congrats to both of the freshman..!!

I think I've been a little remiss in sharing info about one of our 2020 incoming freshmen. Canadian HS star Aaliyah Edwards, a 6'3" forward. She is something else.
Aaliyah Edwards won MVP of the league as well as Defensive Player of the year. https://t.co/Fsq7v4n54f— 4 The Cycle (@4TheCycle1) March 4, 2020

I guess it's no surprise that there was an upset in the PAC 12 tournament.
Unranked California defeated No. 24 Arizona State 71-67 in the first round of the tournament.
Maybe it's not a real big upset. The Sun Devils were only 5-7 their last 12 games and many of those were after a few injuries decimated their roster.
Just a reminder, California gave UConn a tough game in the Huskies season opener 72-61.
