Lots of end of regular season games this week and the conference tournaments have started!!

In a late PAC 12 tourney game unranked Washington State did a number on No. 3 Utah, beating them 66-58. WSU survied a valient comeback in the last few minutes where Utah closed to three point with 40 seconds left. But Charlisse Leger-Walker hit a big three pointer for the final margin.

A No. 1 seed in the latest Top 16 reveal, does this move them down to a 2 seed? And who replaces them? If UConn wins the BE Tourney, my money is on them.

It was a good couple of days for No. 19 UCLA as they won both their games, escaping with an overtime win over Arizona State on Wednesday and having an easy time with Arizona.

What a crazy game between SEC foes Kentucky and Florida. You could see that the game was chippy and something was going to pop. Boy did it ever.


Eight players were ejected at the end of this skirmish and it was the worst in WCBB. So ugly. No reason for this to get so out of control. That player from Florida looked to be the main culprit. The Gators probably played their last game this season, so I hope she has a suspension to start next year.

In another SEC game 9-19 Texas A&M beat 20-10 Mississippi State 79-72 in  big upset. The Aggies have been just terrible this year. It won't push MSU out of the tournament, but it could lower its seeding. Wouldn't it be a kick if Texas A&M won the SEC tournament and got the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament? Not going to happen but I'm sure the Aggie players think it's possible.

It has been quite a week for Nika Muhl..! Fresh off breaking Sue Bird's decades old record for most assists in a single season (236 and counting), Nika repeats as the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. With the Big East tournament and NCAA tournament still to come, Nika still has much work to do as the heart of the Huskies' team. But, consider for a moment the progress in her three years so far at UConn.

Consider:

(All stats are freshman, sophomore and then junior years)

1. Assists - 62 then 87 then 236 assists. Off the charts..!!
2. Points/ shooting % - 112 pts on 38.1%, 127 pts on 43.1%, then 217 on 42.3%.
3. Assist/ turnover ratio - 1.41 then 1.71 then 2.29. :)
4. Rebounds - 56 then 100 then 118.
5. Steals - 40 then 47 then 40 (and counting)
6. Minutes/game - 24.5 per, 21.7 per, 36.5 per game. :eek:
7. Games - 23 of 30 (started 15), 33 of 36 (started 19) and 30 of 31 (started all).
8. Free throws - 8-11 (72.7%), 2-9 (22%), and 41-55 (74.5%) Attempts way up..!
9. 3 pt shooting % - 34.3%, 34.2%, and 37.4%. Very steady..!
10. Fouls - 40, 65 and then 67. ) (0, 0, and 0 according to Nika)

Tremendous improvement across the stat sheet. Nika has also emerged as the voice of the Huskies during the game.

Congrats Nika..!! Tournament time..!!
