GO UCONN!!!!!

Just a few days now until we find out the final seedings for the NCAA tournament. Sunday night!! 

I'm really looking forward to what the selection committee comes up with so we can debate for another week!! 

I won't be watching that selection live. I know, what?? Doggy is not watching such an important show? Well, I have tickets Sunday night for a concert by an Allman Brother's Tribute band. Bad timing, but I'll post about UConn's seeding and opponents and location once I get home. And you know I'll be peaking at my phone to see the results. And my wife will be poking me in my side telling me to put down the phone!

The Division 3 NCAA tournament is being held in Northampton MA.  UW-Whitewater used the UConn facilities to prep for its Sweet 16 game against Trinity (CT) tomorrow at 5:00. I hope the team enjoyed the experience!

It's pretty much unbeliveable that Geno is not on this list. For what this team has endured with all the injuries and where they are now? He has done a remarkable job. So who would I remove? Let's start with Kim Mulkey. They had maybe the worst OOC schedule of any of these other coaches on this list. Even worse than any top 25 team I would bet. There are several teams that would have at least the same record as Mulkey with that schedule. And tell me another coach that could survive the injuries that UConn went through.

Just some amazing highlights for incoming 2023 point guard KK Arnold. She has some serious skills. The only question is will she carve out playing time her freshman season with Paige, Nika and Azzi manning the guared spots.  

2024 UConn commit Allie Ziebell was selected 2023 Wisconson Gatorade Player of the Year. How good is she? She was selected over the amazing KK Arnold!! Press Release

UConn fans were thrilled to see Azzi Fudd back in uniform & on the court in the Big East tournament. Overall, Azzi took 28 shots in the 69 minutes she played. She went 9-28 or 32.1% in the three games. Breaking down her shooting further reveals an interesting pattern.

Consider:

1. Of the 28 shots, Azzi took 14 in the 1st half of the 3 games and 14 in the 2nd half of those 3 games.
2. On the 1st half shots, Fudd went 1-14.
3. In the shots taken in the 2nd half of games, Azzi went 8-14 or 57.1%.
4. In the Villanova game (last game), she went 4-8 in the 2nd half.

Conclusion = Once she warms up, Azzi is deadly. ;)

Leftovers:

1. UConn had 13 turnovers in the first tournament game. They had 13 in the 2nd as well. They also had 13 in the final.
2. Aaliyah scored 19 points, then 20 points then 19 points. So consistent...
3. Edwards rebounds were 13, 12 and 15.
4. Opponents took 197 shots in three games. They missed 144 of them. That's 73% miss rate.
5. The UConn bench played 140 minutes out of 600 total in the 3 games.
6. Nika played 108 minutes or 36 per game.

On to the big dance..!!
