What a crazy four days in WCBB. I can't remember when I have seen so many upsets in the top twenty five. Ten teams lost, with 7 of them losing to unranked teams.

Iowa State stuns No. 3 Texas 59-57 Kansas City Star
Miami ends No. 4 Notre Dame's road win streak, 78-63 Yahoo
Kiesel leads Pittsburgh women to 84-59 win over No. 8 UNC USA Today
Harrison, No. 7 Lady Vols trounce No. 9 Texas A&M 81-58 Newsday
Florida State upsets No. 13 Duke 74-58 with big closing run USA Today
Vanderbilt hands No. 14 Mississippi State 1st loss of year  USA Today
TCU Women Edge No. 16 Oklahoma St 70-66 NY Times
White leads Illinois women past No. 17 Iowa, 73-61 USA Today
No. 12 Maryland beats No. 23 Minnesota 77-73 USA Today
Greenwell, No. 13 Duke Hold off No. 21 Syracuse 74-72 ABC News

Not only were there ten upsets but there were several close calls as well. Good luck to the pollsters this week....lol.

I think the parity that many have been calling for is here. Well, except for UConn. Sorry everyone else....it's just the way it is.

No. 1 South Carolina had a tough game at home against Kentucky. They were down 3 at the half but SC is a very good team and came out on a 12-4 run to take the lead they never lost. Tiffany Mitchell, the defending Southeastern Conference player of the year, scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half to lead them to a 68-60 victory.

As a UConn fan, this game did nothing to make me think that South Carolina can come to Storrs and beat UConn. They shot 33.8% from the field and 25.5% on three's. And no offense, but the home cooking on many of the foul calls helped them win this game.

The story of the game was the horrific ankle injury to Kentucky junior Janee Thompson. She left the court on a stretcher and the initial diagnosis was a left ankle dislocation. I'm sure we are all praying for her full recovery. Her teammates and the South Carolina players were clearly shaken up by what happened.

Stanford was able to hold off Washington State to win in OT 86-76. The main reason I bring up this game is the performance of Bonnie Samuelson, the eldest of the three sisters. She shot 5-7 on three pointers tonight and has become a big part of Stanford's success this year. The good news for UConn fans is that Katie Lou is clearly the best of the three sisters. I can't wait to see her in a UConn uniform.

Ugly Game of the night

So, how do I pick anything but the ugly performance by SMU against UConn. Of course, they were playing one of the best defensive teams in the country, but they missed open shots as well. Here are the ugly numbers......

10-63 from the field for 15.9%
5-25 from the three point line for 20%
They only went to the line 4 times. Hallelujah!!! they made 3!!
19 turnovers as well
9 points in the first half and scoreless in the second half until the 7:41 mark. Amazingly they scored 19 points to finish out the game strong.

Congrats SMU for the UGOTN!!! Well deserved!
