As I mentioned yesterday, UConn received a verbal commitment from 2018 recruit Lexi Gordon, 6' wing out of Bell HS in Texas.
Another beautiful UConn Player |
I always like a picture with a smile!!!! Gotta Love the form on that three point jumper! |
And with her off hand. You have to be able to do that to play for Geno! |
I have plenty of links about her verbal in the UConn section below. But I poked around the web, and there are plenty of articles about this wonderful young lady.

Here is my UConn/East Carolina II Pre Game Report.

After beating up on Providence 91-68, No. 21 DePaul has now won 6 in a row, 10 of 11, and 14 out of 16. Nice run going by Doug's team and with Creighton and Marquette left in the regular season, and as the favorites in the Big East tournament, the Blue Demons could be 27-7 and a 4 or 5 seed by then.

From David in Naples
Making the Final Four in Women's college basketball is a great accomplishment. Getting into and winning the National Championship game is even tougher. Since 2000, only six different teams have won that National Championship contest. Purdue, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Duke, Rutgers, Stanford and Louisville all made it to the last game of the season and lost. Poor Stanford and Louisville have each lost twice since 2000. Notre Dame, which won the National Championship in 2001, has lost 4 other finals, all in the last 5 years.
In the sixteen championship games since 2000, Baylor has appeared twice and won both, while Maryland and Texas A&M have won in their only contest. Tennessee won twice, in 2007 & 2008, but lost three times, to UConn, in 2000, 2002 and 2003. The seven combined victories by Baylor (2), Tennessee (2), Maryland, Notre Dame and Texas A&M leaves nine National Championships to the UConn Huskies since 2000.
Going back to 1982, UConn has won 10 championship games and never lost. Baylor is the only other team with multiple victories (2) and no losses. Even Tennessee has 5 defeats to go with their impressive 8 National Championships. The only other teams with two National Championships are Louisiana Tech (82 & 88), Stanford (90 & 92) and the California based USC (83 & 84). The record for futility doesn't go to Notre Dame at 1-4, but rather to Auburn which lost in all three appearances, in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
Here's the records of the top six winners of National Championships in the Finals:
UConn 10-0
Tenn. 8-5
Baylor 2-0
USC 2-1
Stanford 2-2
L. Tech 2-4

So, after 37 minutes Coach Warlick decides to put in Kortney Dunbar and she proceeds to hit a three pointer and another basket to help Tennessee win their game against Ole Miss. Here are a few of her comments on that.
(On Kortney Dunbar playing in tonight's
game)
"Thank god I got her in! Thank goodness, Kortney, Nia and Meme work so hard in practice. I had already decided before the game started that I was going to give them that opportunity. They did not disappoint. They did not back down. I thought their defense was solid. I worry about sometimes Kortney defending, but I thought she did an outstanding job, and obviously hit a big three, got a huge rebound for us."
(On Kortney's play with the game on the line)
"Kortney just does what she does. She has ice water in veins. She and Meme both went in at crucial times, and they delivered. She has a lot of confidence in what she does. She's put in the time and I think our defense has gotten so much better, so I gave her that opportunity and she delivered."
(On playing Kortney more often)
"I'm always trying to get Kortney in the game. I'm trying to get everyone in the game. It's kind of time and possession and who is scoring, and who's playing well and what we need. Like I said, some games I have a lot of confidence in Kortney and I haven't gotten her in. I think we're going to need her down the stretch, and I think this was a great start for her."
(On getting Kortney Dunbar more minutes)
"Yes, I'm going to try. Look, bottom line is I've got to do what I need to do to win. Those two young ladies helped us win today. I hope I can get them more playing time, absolutely."
As I said, she kept her on the bench for 37 minutes. So how did she "give them that opportunity before "?? She hopes she can get them more playing time? "Thank god I got her in! Clue, Holly. If you play them they get more playing time. Just put them the hell in the game. Either that or explain why you don't play them.
"This is a great start for her". A great start? You waited 25 games and not it's a great start?
Man...she is just SO clueless.
