12/30/15 Game Highlights

Team Overviews

Cincinnati has just been awful this season. After winning their first three games of the season, they have only won four other games beating Eastern Illinois and two other really bad teams in the AAC, UCF and Houston. When Tulsa is your best win of the season, that tells you all you need to know.

They are now coming off a four game losing streak. Their last game was a 27 point loss to South Florida. Now they face UConn.

And they face a UConn team with two players looking for redemption after a poor performance against Temple in an 85-60 win over the Owls. Morgan Tuck and Kia Nurse can't be happy with the way they played and you can be sure we will see different results. Otherwise, UConn just dominated Temple and are well on their way to another undefeated regular season in the AAC.

 Game Analysis

Cincinnati is still starting four guards and one forward. Their one forward off the bench is a freshman and only 6'1". I would imagine that Coach Elliott will play a zone for most of the game and force UConn to the outside as much as possible. Especially since UConn is shooting almost 5 percent lower from distance than last season. UConn will want fast break at every chance before the Cincinnati defense can set up.

As I said in the preview for first time they met,  the talent discrepancy is just too much for the Bearcats to handle. It just won't matter what they do. UConn will just run it's offense, practice plays, take the best shot and then defend the hell out of the ball on the other end.

Cincinnati shoots only 33.3% from the field and 28.5% on 3's. What makes it worse it that they are a terrible ball handling team. They have only 240 assists this season and 365 turnovers.  They will not do well against UConn's pressure defense.

Final Prediction

Last game I predicted a 60+ margin of victory and boy did I take some crap for that one. With the 107-45 win it's kinda funny how close I came...eh???

Now they are playing at home trying to fine tune this incredible basketball team. Morgan will be looking for a little redemption after the Temple game and certainly Nurse would like nothing better than to quiet her critics that are calling for her to be out of the starting lineup. I'll be rooting for them bigtime!

I don't see it any closer. UConn by 60+.
