Here is a video my friend Rocky posted somewhere else of Megan Walker's opening game for her senior season. I'm always taken aback by the ease of which she moves, how strong her left hand is and the form on her outside shot. She will impact the WCBB game early in her freshman season.

I just read the article I linked in the UConn section by Kevin Gleason about the UConn women's team being ranked third to start the season.

I'm sure he was trying to write a humorous article. He made it clear he doesn't follow WCBB and he doesn't follow UConn women's basketball either. But he humor to any fan of both comes off as insulting and condescending.

His premise was that the voters in the AP polls had to be idiots to vote UConn number three in the pre-season poll based on the fact that "THEY ARE UCONN!!!!". He went on and on about the winning streak, multiple championships, constant great recruits......on and on.

What bugs me is he doesn't take into consideration the actual players that left and the ones that remained. He admits he doesn't know ONE players name. He didn't mention ONCE the top three players in the WNBA draft were gone from that team.

I guess based on the performance of this years team, maybe I shouldn't be so bugged by it. Maybe he was right!!!!

One of the more amazing stats this season is Gabby Williams leading the team in rebounds & assists. She has 59 boards, four more than Napheesa. The Gabulous one also has 38 assists, two more Kia Nurse. It is very unusual for a player who rebounds well, to also handle the ball often enough to lead in assists, even in UConn's high post offense.

Stef Dolson was the leading rebounder three times, but never finished better than third in assists. Kelly Faris twice led the team in assists, but didn't finish better than 2nd in rebounds. Even Stewie never led the Huskies in both rebounds and assists. She twice was #1 in rebounds and #2 in assists. Playing with MoJeff meant the best anyone could finish was 2nd.

So, has it been done before? Yes, Maya Moore did it last in 2010-11. Gabby has many games left in this season, but she is part way to a record only Maya has achieved lately.

Go Gabby..!!
