My beautiful granddaughter Noa! They won the state championship for their age group in the cheer competition held in Orlando! So proud!!!!!

I linked the NH Register game day article. Certainly not as much info as I have, but they didn't spend the time I did putting it together.

But that is no excuse for writing something so ridiculous. They said "Twelve of the 13 Texas players average at least 10 minutes per game with the lone exception being Chasity Patterson, who is at 9.3 minutes per game. On the other side, UConn has just seven players seeing at least 10 minutes per game. If fouls get called at a fast and furious pace, it certainly could play to the Longhorns’ advantage."

No. 1, UConn fouls less than any other team in the country.

No. 2, Texas doesn't play 12 players in the games against good teams or games that were close. They only go 7-8 deep.

No. 3, If both teams have a starter or two in foul trouble, I'll take UConn's "star" depth over anything that Texas can put on the court that is missing a starter or two.

Sometimes I wonder about the folks covering women's basketball.

UConn/Houston Game Highlights

In the big matchup of the day Sunday, Tennessee handled a Wilson-less South Carolina team 86-70 behind 19 points from Jamie Nared and a double-double by Mercedes Russell with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

It was as close as 70-66 with just under 6 minutes remaining in the game. Tennessee then outscored South Carolina by a 16-4 margin to finish off the game. Nared and the freshman Westbrook had 5 and 9 points respectively of the 16.

Tyasha Harris had 28 points but wore down at the end missing 5 consecutive shots in those fateful last 5 minutes.

The Gamecocks showed in this game that they can be a feisty team but without A'ja Wilson, they can't compete with the top teams in the SEC let alone in the country. They better hope she is available for the UConn game. Fortunately for them, they play Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Arkansas before playing No. 12 Missouri and then UConn. They might win all three of those games, but I wouldn't be surprised of they did lose one if Wilson is out for an extended period.

Looks like No. 17 Texas A&M had a letdown after their big win over Tennessee. They lost to unranked Georgia in overtime 92-84. I didn't watch this game, but I bet it was a fun game to watch.

Chennedy Carter, the outstanding freshman for A&M scored 31 points but again it took a ton of shots to get there. She was 9-28. That means she missed 19 shots. Carter hit a big three pointer with 14 seconds left in regulation to send the game to OT. But she was 1-9 in the overtime as Georgia outscored the Aggies 19-11. Once again, she can carry the team or shoot them out of the game.

No. 2 (not for long) Notre Dame had a bounce back game, beating up on Boston College 89-60. Jessica Shepard led the Irish with 24 points in only 22 minutes. They have several days before Tennessee comes to town for another big matchup. They will need all the rest they can get. It's going to be a very physical game. Tennessee will press like crazy. If ND can break that press, they know how to finish at the basket better than anyone the Lady Vols have faced.

By David in Naples!!!!!

Thoughts on the Houston rout:1. Azura went 7-11 from the field. Appropriate, since she is always open. :D
2. Houston had three starters who went 0-5, 1-8 and 2-8. Also, two subs went 1-8 and 2-9. Overall, that is 6-38 or 15%.
3. UConn had more than 16 assists. The Official Scorer is a stingy bastard.
4. The Huskies shot 53.1% from the field against Houston. They are shooting 53.1% for the season. Very consistent.
5.  UConn scored more points in the 1st period (23) than Houston did in the first three periods (21).
6. Kyla Irwin now has more personal fouls (16) than Katie Lou (14).
7. Napheesa now has 30 more assists than turnovers. (50 vs 20) Crystal's difference is +43... 8-)
8. UConn's bench scored 33 points, Houston's team scored 35.
9. For the season, Kia now leads with 227 points, Pheesa has 226 and Z comes in with 215. KLS is catching up w/ 197.

Next up is Texas on Monday. :)

Go Huskies..!!
