Overview
It's been a down year for Tulane, who was a much better team last season. I'm sure you will all remember the second UConn/Tulane game where the Green Wave put the fear of god into UConn. The Huskies barely escaped with a win, 63-60. This season they have had some pretty tough outings but they have won their last two games, beating Tulsa 70-39 and East Carolina 64-58.
UConn seems to be rounding back into form after a tough couple of games against Texas and the Geno explosion game against Tulsa. With the bench now producing, the starter minutes will be limited except for the South Carolina and Louisville games. I have a feeling UConn will remember the game from last year where Tulane gave them that scare and want to prove a point. And this is the last game before the South Carolina game on next Thursday so Geno will want them to feel good about themselves.

Head Coach Lisa Stockton
Head Coach Lisa Stockton will embark upon her 24th season at the helm of the Tulane women’s basketball program for the 2017-18 campaign, and 27th overall as a head coach. Last season, the Green Wave took a strength of schedule ranked 35th in the country and went 18-15 overall, achieving their 12th straight winning season and eighth consecutive trip to the postseason. In addition, Stockton's Green Wave once again tied its longest run in the WNIT by reaching the third round, produced their ninth straight year with 10 or more wins at home (12-5) and most notably took a 100-game win streak team in No. 1 UConn to its limit with a 63-60 loss - marking the second closest any team had gotten to the upset and closest any American squad had gotten, besting USF's 16-point loss in January of 2016.
Stockton’s career record of 542-269 as a collegiate head coach is good for a 66.8 winning percentage and she is 479-242 (.664) during her time at Tulane, including a 217-139 (.610) mark in conference play.
“Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a basketball coach,” Stockton said. “Growing up in North Carolina with its rich tradition of college basketball, I remember going to games and really enjoying being a part of the whole experience. I was fortunate enough to earn an athletic scholarship and that just solidified my decision on the direction I wanted my professional career to go.

Game Analysis
Kolby Morgan is their leading scorer and is a pretty good size guard. She has a nice pull up jumper and is strong to the basket on her drives. She is also a decent three point shooter. As the only double digit scorer on the team, she will be looking for her shot on every possession. Kayla Manuirirgini, from Hawera, New Zealand, is a tough little guard. She also is a decent three point shooter. Between the two guards, they will take around 12 long range shots per game.
The team plays a nice offensive scheme, drives off screens and then either shooting long range or making that extra pass. They are not a particularly good rebounding team. Big trouble against an solid rebounding team like UConn.
Their problem is when UConn has the ball. They play both a zone and a man-to-man defense, changing up to keep their opponent off guard. I'm sure they will play more zone because UConn will eat them up in the man to man. UConn has seen enough zones this year to know how to attack it.
On defense UConn will press Tulane, trying to get the ball out of Morgan's hands. UConn will look to create and run off turnovers and I expect Tulane to have more than their average of 16 per game.
UConn will take advantage of their size advantage with plenty of post entry passes from all the UConn players. It's the beauty of the diversity of this team. UConn will want a fast pace and Tulane will try to slow it down.
Final Prediction
While I like how Tulane plays, they just don't have the horses to compete and keep the game close. UConn is back home and I'm sure they will thrive on the fan support and familiar surroundings. With the renewed bench contributing during the game and in the fourth quarter, this game could get ugly early and then that would carry to the final buzzer.
I'm going big here. UConn by 60+ with the Huskies over 100 points.
