I watch some of the Tennessee opening game against Central Arkansas. The game went as expected with Tennessee hammering the Sugar Bears 102-47. Diamond Deshields made her first appearance as did the highly regarded freshman guard, Te'a Cooper.

Cooper was terrific against the overmatched CA team with 22 points and 6 assists. She shot very well, going 3-5 on 3's. Deshields made a nice first game with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. I was really impressed with the new Kortney Dunbar. Always a really good shooter, she has changed her body. Really fit and looks stronger as well. She was going against a team with no height, but she is playing the "stretch 4" position and did it well.

The interesting part of the game was that Tennessee, in a 55 point blowout, played only 6 players. They kept Deshields minutes down, but the five starters played 38, 36, 36, 34, and 31 minutes. It looks like everyone made it through the game ok, but that is certainly asking for trouble playing them so many minutes in a game like this.

From a game report, - "Usual starters Bashaara Graves and Jordan Reynolds were among those who didn't play. They weren't mentioned in the pregame injury report. Neither were reserves Jasmine Jones and Meme Jackson, although Jackson was hit in the face during Monday's exhibition against Carson-Newman. Rumor from Knoxville is Graves was suspended for the game. Were Reynolds and Jones disciplined as well? Stay tuned!!!

Congrats to Muffet McGraw for winning her 700th game at Notre Dame. The No. 3 Irish rolled to 85-54 victory over Bucknell on Sunday. Briana Turner led ND with 21 points, senior Madison Cable scored 20 points and freshman Michaela Mabrey scored 16 points and added 6 assists.

There were two upsets in WCBB Sunday and both were by ACC teams.

No. 22 North Carolina lost for the second time in two games this season, 79-77 at home against Oregon. The Ducks are a decent team but this is a game UNC needed to win. Oregon is lead by a terrific forward Jillian Alleyne, and should be decent in the PAC12. It could get really ugly for the Tarheels in 2015-16.  No votes for UNC in tomorrows poll is my guess.

No. 8 Louisville lost it's home and season opener to California 75-71. Cal is another good PAC12 team but UL had no business losing this game. Asia Durr, a heavily recruited player by UConn at one time, scored 12 points in her debut. Coach Watz can't be too happy right now.
