In case you missed it, here is my UConn/Kansas State Pregame Report,

*********************************************************************************
No upsets in the top twenty-five Sunday, there were some close games. South Carolina edged UCLA 68-65, Duke beat Army 72-61 and in a game that was close for a half, Baylor defeated DePaul 86-72.

*******************************************************************************
No. 2 South Carolina made the plays they had to down the stretch to beat UCLA. I get the PAC12 network and was able to watch game. The first half was a one point game with South Carolina in the lead and if it wasn't for some great outside shooting by their 3 point specialist, Tina Roy, UCLA would have had a nice lead. The Bruins played a 2-3 zone, packing the paint and preventing South Carolina from using their size to their advantage. The Gamecocks tried to force the ball inside, leading to way too many turnovers.

The second half was more of the same. UCLA played tough inside D, South Carolina tried to force the ball inside and had too many turnovers. Jordan Canada was terrific for UCLA, but SC was able to get the ball to Wilson for a couple of inside baskets, Cuevas had a great drive to the hoop and Mitchell scored 6 points down the stretch. UCLA had their chances, but either missed the open shot or had an unforced TO leading to an SC fast break.

There was an article a while ago about South Carolina playing with more pace, but they were lucky to get to 68 points. I really don't see any improvement from last year for South Carolina. They expected Sarah Imovbioh to replace Welch and it's not really close. Imovbioh is a great physical specimen but she has no offensive game and did little against UCLA going scoreless and grabbing only 4 rebounds. Jatartie White was expected to replace Ibiam and while she had her moments, she looked way off in this game, scoring 2 points from the foul line and grabbing 2 rebounds.

If they are 2nd best team in the country, WCBB is in a down year.
