I had a great time at the UConn game tonight. I watched the second half 10 feet behind the UConn bench. Geno is a show all by himself.
In case you didn't know, UConn won 97-57, right at my 40 point prediction. Here is my Post Game Report

So, I'm sitting in my seat at the UConn game and I take a look at the Tennessee vs Chattanooga score. I was expecting a big game from Tennessee. If you had read my blog after the first two Lady Vols games, you know I thought they had looked ordinary in their wins. I figured they would come out with great intensity and boy, did they. With 3 minutes left in the first quarter, they were up 19-2 over the Lady Mocs.
While UConn was on their way to a 40 point win over a tough Kansas State team, I figured that Tennessee was doing the same to a team that lost by 11 to a mediocre Indiana team that lost by 15 to DePaul. Boy, was I wrong.
Tennessee had a 21 point lead before ending the second quarter up 38-19. They stretched the lead to twenty, 45-25 with six minutes left in the third quarter after a Diamond Deshields steal and layup. I would imagine that the Thompson Boiling Arena crowd was going crazy.
Then a funny thing happened. Tennessee stopped making shots and over the last 6 minutes and Chattanooga outscored Tennessee 9-0 to close to 45-36. I would imagine that the Lady Vol fans were getting a little nervous. They shot 0-11 and turned the ball over 4 times in those 6 minutes. Wow...that is some terrible basketball.
The fourth quarter started with one more Tennessee turnover and a three pointer by Chattanooga to close to six points 45-39. Tennessee's terrific center, Mercedes Russell, scored two baskets but the Lady Mocs hit a three pointer in between those two baskets to close the lead to five. After another Tennessee miss, Chattanooga hit another three to make it 49-47. And the game was on.
The lead was two points for Tennessee with under 3 minutes left before Deshields hit two free throws, stole the ball and passed for a lay up and after the Lady Mocs closed back to 57-53, Deshields hit another jumper to push the lead to 6 points with a minute left. Chattanooga hit a late three pointer for the final margin of 59-57.
This is the third Tennessee game in a row where you could say they were playing nowhere near how a top 4 team should be playing. Eventually it will bite them in the ass and they will lose a game they should win.

No. 3 Notre Dame played like a top 3 team in beating Valparaiso 110-54. Coach McGraw was able to get lots of minutes for everyone and the two dynamic freshman, Marina Mabrey and Arike Ogunbowale took advantage of their time on the court. Ogunbowale took a team high 16 shots to score her 16 points and she also snared 8 rebounds. Mabrey was fantastic in this game. She had 18 points on 6-7 shooting, 6-8 from the foul line, 10 assists and 12 steals. That might be a Notre Dame record! I don't care who they were playing. A triple double is an amazing achievement.

In a late game, No. 13 Stanford lost to a weak Santa Clara team 61-58 in Maples Arena. This is just a shocking loss for Stanford.
Santa Clara won even though they shot 22-71 (31%) from the field and 1-16 on three's. I think Stanford's 26 turnovers might have had something to do with it.

It was a great night for the AAC. We all know that UConn beat Kansas State. But the AAC had to additional wins Monday night. Tulsa beat SEC team Arkansas 74-67 and Tulane beat another SEC team, LSU 67-63. Looks to me that the supposed weak conference is kicking the crap out the power-5 conference.
So, without further ado!!!

Yes, DD, the LV beating those three teams, PSU, Syracuse and Chatanooga, by a total of 12 points really should knock them down to the bottom of the Top Ten.
