My wonderful and talented cousin Ted Fink has a songwriter competition for one of his songs.

He sent out the instrumental and we were supposed to send in lyrics. The song is called Riffin’.
Riffin’ is when you just make up music without lyrics for example on a guitar.
I made it to the final four!!! Now it’s time for the public to vote.

There are four entries and mine is No. 3 and it’s called Riffin’. I should win just for having the right name!!!

So here is the link. Vote early, often, and for No. 3.....me!!!

Great news from Storrs!!!!!! And great sarcasm from Geno!!!

Samuelson: "I'm ready to go. I'm excited to get playing again."

Katie Lou Samuelson expected to play on Friday according to Geno Auriemma, who said she has looked good in practice the last couple days.
Geno, throwing shade at the AAC: "I thought we’d be like a (No.) 4 or 5. We’re not in one of those conferences that perennially wins women’s basketball national championships.”

Gee, I guess I could have posted this a lot earlier, but around 5:40, I looked online for something else and saw all the commotion about the seedings being released early. Man, how stupid does ESPN look? Showing the brackets two hours early forcing ESPN to have their selection show at 5:00 AND at 7:00? Idiots.

Well, yesterday I said that UConn would be a No. 1 seed, but that is about all we know. Huh!!! Shows how much I know. I'll blame it on Charlie Crème.

UConn is the No. 2 seed in the Albany Region with Louisville No. 1. I'm not sure what a difference that makes. If the brackets hold true, UConn would play Maryland in the Sweet Sixteen and Louisville would play Oregon State. I'm not sure that Maryland isn't a better matchup for UConn. I'll have to do more analysis on that.

In looking at UConn's road to the Final Four, they start with No. 15 seed Towson and play the winner of the C. Vivian Springer-less No. 7 seed Rutgers team or No. 10 seed Buffalo. These games are in Storrs and are on ESPN2. The Rutgers/Buffalo game is at 4:30 and the UConn/Towson game follows that.

They say that UConn was lowered to a No. 2 seed because of their SOS. Yet, as the phenomenal Rebecca Lobo pointed out, UConn's SOS is around 20 places better than one of the No. 1 seed Mississippi State's SOS. AND I believe UConn's two losses were to two No. 1 seeds Baylor and Louisville. Mississippi State's two losses were to No. 7 seed Missouri and No. 2 seed Oregon. It just doesn't seem right.

But does that work in favor of UConn? Add a chip to their already loaded shoulders? I sure do hope so. You can bet that Chris Daily and Geno will be pushing that button hard.

If UConn gets to Albany and the seedings hold true, they would first have to face No. 3 seed Maryland and then No. 1 seed Louisville. But I have a feeling that Maryland won't get by No. 6 seed UCLA.

And as fun as it would be to see the No. 11 seed team beat UCLA and then Maryland to face UConn, it's just great that the No. 11 seed TENNESSEE is in the same bracket as UConn. Hey, you never know!

I'll try to put together some game information about Towson before Friday and then the winner of the Rutgers/Buffalo game before Sunday.

Towson earned a berth by winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship over Drexel
53-49 in a surprising result. Towson ended up 20-12 on the season and only 11-7 in the conference. IN an example of what we might be seeing Friday, Towson lost to Syracuse earlier in the season
98-55. More info to come.

I'm a big fan of Jeff Walz. What a great coach and a fun guy to listen to. His language (swearing) got him suspended for the first game of the tournament. Love it!!

Now I like him even more after watching him interviewed in the Selection Show. His two daughters were so cute. I mean really cute. Maybe I can fix up Logan with one of them?? Too soon?

I posted a bunch of links. You can look for a team you are interested in!

Tonight, Fun with Numbers looks at the UConn team stats for unusual numbers. For example, in the 1st period this season, UConn has outscored opponents 787 to 464 or 323 points. That is an average of 9.8 points per game. Here are some other unusual stats:

1. UConn has taken 2,073 shots this season and only 80 have been blocked.
2. The Huskies shoot from 3 point range 34.3% of the time.
3. Opponents only make 34% of their shots, while UConn makes 49.3%
4. UConn has a combined total of 661 turnovers and blocked shots. Opponents have made only 689 baskets.
5. UConn has made 202 more free throws than opponents, 424-222.
6. The five starters on the Huskies have 555 assists and only 281 turnovers. Ratio is 1.97 or almost 2 to 1.

Go Huskies..!!
