All my grandkids in Florida at Lion Country Safari!!! I wish I was there!

Good news so far on Katie Lou! She flew to Florida with the team. Obviously she wouldn't be playing if she stayed at school, so at least there is a chance she will be in the lineup.
I have read so many "Doctors" on the message boards giving their take on her condition. From a fractured back and out for the season, to back spasms that will keep her out 6-8 weeks, to the same spasms keeping her out for a couple of weeks. Such pessimism.
My take is that the spasms, caused by a collision, are not the same when a weakness in the back cause the spasms to happen. It was more of an impact injury. Therefore, THIS online fake doctor says she will be playing. Don't hate me if I am wrong!
Back in mid-January, UConn beat South Florida at home 63-46 in a game that Katie Lou score her 2000th point. This was the game that Geno was so disgusted with how his team was playing he pulled all his starters after 4 1/2 minutes. The bench did a nice job and the starters got the message, although they never did really get it all together. Below are the highlights from that game.
I expect UConn to remember this game and even with the game on the road, play a lot better in this rematch. The Bulls come into this game 6-2 their last 8 but just lost ugly to Cincinnati in their last game 57-43. This is not your typical high scoring South Florida team (lots of injuries). Even in their last four wins they only score over 60 points once.
Expect a solid UConn win, holding South Florida to under 50 points again but scoring more. 30+ point win for the Huskies!

Congrats to a terrific play, one that UConn faced earlier in the season. California's Kristine Anigwe had an amazing 32 points and 30 rebounds against Washington State. It was her 30th consecutive Double-Double. Amazing!!!!

Lots of Top 25 games Sunday but not one upset. The better teams are getting it together? Or did they all play weak teams? A little of both.
No. 5 Mississippi State was able to beat No. 14 South Carolina 68-64 in a really strange game. The Gamecocks had an early double digit lead and had a 7 point lead at the half on a buzzer beating 30 foot three pointer by their point guard Harris. She was terrific in this game with 20 points. But Mississippi State turned on the defense and outscored South Carolina 19-8 in the third quarter. They stretched it out but South Carolina came back and made a game of it. A steal and layup after an inadvertent whistle allowed the Gamecocks to close to two 66-64, and Mississippi State missed several free throws but South Carolina could not corral the rebound and MSU finally closed it out with two free throws. Whew!
No. 10 North Carolina State just got by No. 15 Miami 70-68 in a game that had countless lead changes. DD Rogers led NC State with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the best performance of her career. The Wolfpack took their final lead with 7 minutes left and held on for the victory.
The rest of the Top 25 games were pretty non-descript.

One of the greatest things about really talented shooters is the way they adjust during games. The best example recently was Katie Lou against UCF. She was 0-5 from the field, but 12-12 from the free throw line. She gave up shooting from outside and posted up and drove the lane. UCF couldn’t handle her inside and 12 free throws later it was over.
Several UConn players were cold from outside the 3 point arc against Houston. Maybe freezing is a better description for 2-16 shooting. Lou was 1-4, moved in closer and went 3-4. Dangerfield was 1-6 from three range. From inside she was 7-8. Collier was 0-2 outside, 10-12 inside. Walker was also 0-2 outside the arc, but 3-4 inside. Great shooters adjust to what is working.
Houston had the opposite approach. They started 5-8 from three and never adjusted. Then went cold and still put up 35 three point shots. They missed 24 off them and lost the game handily.
Go Huskies..!!
