Happy fourth night of Chanukah!!

Dorka Juhász is in class, according to the team.
Griffin should see some action this weekend.
Sadly Fudd is out for a couple of weeks. Geno said she has the beginning of a stress reaction in her foot. Best to get this under control early. More minutes for Ducharme?? I hope so.
Notable quotes. He seems to be more positive and upbeat
On Azzi
“I don’t know if you saw her when she played, it didn’t look great, right? She’s not getting up and down the floor great and it’s been bothering her. We were trying to work at it, work at it, work at it,” Auriemma said. “She’s a really tough kid. She never wants to sit down. She thinks she can do anything. You’ve been waiting all this time to play and she tried playing through it, and it’s just not working.”
On Aubrey
Auriemma said last week that Griffin was missed in the South Carolina loss, and he expects her to bolster the Huskies’ depth in more ways than one.
“Defensively, I think for one. Rebounding I think for two. Attacking, slashing kind of guy that we kind of are missing for three,” Auriemma said. “She’s a much better stand-up shooter from the 3-point line than people recognize. I don’t think there’s area that she doesn’t help us.”

Congrats to Coach Berube of Princeton on her teams victory against previously undefeated No. 22 Florida Gulf Coast, 58-55.
Whatever you do, don't count out Carla when it's time to replace the 80 year old Geno.

Wow, what started a couple of years ago at Curry's SC30 Select Camp has turned into an incredible opportunty for future superstar Azzi Fudd.
Azzi was the first female to ever attend the camp and won the camp's three point shooting competion. As most of us know, Fudd injured her knee and was out her junior season. But she eventually attended the camp against and won the three point shooting contest one more time!
Azzi - “Since I first met Steph at his camp a few years ago, I’ve stayed connected to him and have always admired his incredible talent and accomplishments, but also his humility and the impact he has on people,” Fudd said. “As I continue to focus on becoming the best player and student I can be while in college, I also look forward to broadening my understanding of business and life beyond basketball. This partnership with Steph and his SC30 team will help me do that. I’m really excited about everything we’ll do together in the future.”
Steph - “Azzi Fudd is the best choice to start a brand relationship like this because she is the next face of women’s basketball and has been a part of SC30 Inc. and the Curry Brand family since she was an invitee to the All-American Camp. Our values are aligned when it comes to family, and in terms of hard work and for the appreciation of blessings in your life. For me, this is the right time because I have identified the platforms that I have, aligning purpose over profit, and the ability to collaborate with the right partners for the right opportunities. I want to be able to unlock that for Azzi, and for other talented athletes and influencers that see the world the same way I do. It is my hope that we can inspire the next generation of athletes and non-athletes who want to do amazing things.”
Wow...what a tribute for Azzi by a future NBA Hall-of-Famer. A wonderful opportunity for a wonderful young lady.

For the millionth time, while I'm sure he had some input, Geno didn't pick the team. And he was only one voice on the committee so he didn't decide Ogumike's being cut either. There were reasons that Parker just doesn't seem to want to accept. My good friend Joan puts it best below.
The Geno hate is just digusting.

Remember when I posted this on 11/15?
"Ok, maybe I'm picking on them a little. I really don't like the team and their fans. But Tennessee is 3-0 and possibly the worst 3-0 ranked team in history. Hyperbole? You be the judge."
Now we are three more games into their season, they are still undefeated. How to their stats stack up now?
Good for them, they are scoring more. But the two toughest defensive teams were in the first three games, Central Florida and South Florida. They did score 74 against Texas, but that included 15 in overtime. They only had 59 in regulation.
Small improvements in shooting.
They are now shooting:
39.4% from the field, up from 36.4%
22.0% on threes up from 14%
58.7 from the FT Line up from 51.9%.
And ball handling?
18.7 turnovers per game up from 17 turnovers per game
10.5 assists per game up from 9 assists.
They had nowhere to go but up.
So, still the worst undefeated team in the country? I'll adjust it to worst OFFENSIVE team in the country. They aren't bad defensively. But they haven't played any good offenses either.

Not a dumb statement, but this is typical of this particular Tennessee fan. Not sure what his first language is supposed to be.
" i hope tess keeps geting back to top 60 recuiting lists when she was softmore in highschool she has a long way go lets hope she does not go backard but keeps improving."

Undefeated teams
November is in the books, a convenient time to take a look at undefeated teams. There still are only a handful of games completed but of the 356 teams, only 23 have managed to avoid a single loss. Those teams are:
South Carolina
Tennessee
Arizona
Georgia
Michigan
Florida Gulf Coast
Texas A&M
Duke
Colorado
Iowa State
Nebraska
Long Beach State
BYU
Iowa
North Carolina
Stony Brook
Missouri
Wake Forest
Ohio State
Youngstown State
Tulsa
Cleveland State
Coastal Carolina
Take a look at the order. It's obviously not alphabetical. I'm going to reveal the order a few sentences down, so those interested, take a pause to look at the order to see if anything jumps out at you. The first one is South Carolina, but that might turn out to be misleading. They deserve to be first on many lists. If this list was in order of their Massey ranking, they would be first, but Tennessee would not be second. South Carolina is the only team in the country with eight wins, but if the sort order were by number of wins, Tennessee would not be second.
The answer is that I looked at the opponents, and identified their strongest opponent by Massey rating, sorting them based on their strongest opponent. I'll repeat the list, followed by the Massey rank of their strongest opponent and that opponent's name. My take away is that there are three factors that can lead to being undefeated at this point in the season:
1. Being very good
2. Being very lucky
3. Playing cupcakes
These factors are not mutually exclusive. It seems likely that Iowa is a pretty good team, but they are only 14th on this list, because I haven't played any top-tier teams yet. That will change soon with games against Duke and Iowa State coming up. Luck definitely can play a role. Arizona beat Louisville by two, Youngstown State beat Akron by two, and Tennessee went to overtime Texas before winning.
Unfortunately, it appears that one of the key factors is playing cupcakes. I generally think that you need to have a Massey rating in the mid 40s or better to earn an invitation to the NCAA tournament on your merits as opposed to winning a weak conference, and only seven of these teams has beaten anybody that good. In seven cases, their toughest opponent is in triple digits.
South Carolina 4 UConn
Tennessee 5 Texas
Arizona 10 Louisville
Georgia 17 Notre Dame
Michigan 32 Oregon St
Florida Gulf Coast 37 LSU
Texas A&M 40 DePaul
Duke 46 Alabama
Colorado 47 Oklahoma St
Iowa State 53 UMass
Nebraska 55 Creighton
Long Beach State 58 Rhode Island
BYU 59 Florida St
Iowa 66 Northern Iowa
North Carolina 68 Washington
Stony Brook 97 Rutgers
Missouri 114 Columbia
Wake Forest 140 Mercer
Ohio State 147 Bucknell
Youngstown State 165 Akron
Tulsa 183 FL Atlantic
Cleveland State 189 St Bonaventure
Coastal Carolina 276 UNC Greensboro

By David in Naples
Christyn Williams has scored 1,451 points for the Huskies. That is good enough to put her at #29 all-time at UConn. Next up is Crystal Dangerfield at #28 with 1,480 points. With her next 100 points, Christyn will pass Asjha Jones (1,502), Moriah Jefferson (1,532), Cathy Bochain (1,534) and Jen Rizzotti (1,540). Three more points after that passes Wendy Davis at 1,552 points and spot #23.
Scoring 500 more points would be tough this season. But, that would move Christyn up to #14, passing Svetlana Abrosimova (1,865). Renee Montgomery (1,990) at #13 might be a stretch for Williams.
However, a finish in the top 15 scoring leaders of all time at UConn would place Christyn in rare company.
Go Huskies..!!
