GO UCONN!!!!!
**************************************************
UConn had it's second player this season enter the transfer portal. Mir McLean has decided to leave the UConn program for "greener" pastures.
McLean was not seeing many minutes this season. She only played in 3 games and averaged 2.7 minutes per game. Not even a cup of coffee. Maybe a sip? She didn't play in the last two games even though UConn was really short handed. She looked out of it in the win over UCLA. Now the chicken and egg question is did that last game cause her to finally pull the trigger or was the decision made and just not announced and that is why she seemed disinterested. I'm going with the later.
Geno - "Mir is extremely smart and athletic and she has a lot of potential. We wish Mir and her family the best as she continues her collegiate career."
I'm sure we all will miss that big smile and wish her the best. I'm guessing that Geno grabs a player from the portal to fill her spot on next years roster.

No guarantee on these two players but here is a game with two UConn 2023 targets, Cierra Toomey and Mikaylah Williams.
Toomey is a 6'3" post with small forward skills. She is ranked No. 3 in the class.
Williams is 6' guard who starred on the 3-3 team that won a gold. She is No. 1 in the class.
UConn's chances right now are better with Toomey for sure. She visited UConn and checked out the picture of Brianna Stewart at their practice facility. Stewart is her idol and role model.
Toomey #21 in white vs Williams #12 in purple.

Well, we all knew a big hit was coming after that loss to at the time unranked Georgia Tech. The Huskies were dropped 4 spots, from No. 3 to No. 7, it's lowest ranking since 2007. Crazy huh.
With a few tough games still in their future and the unknown timeframe for the return of the 4 missing players, they could drop even further.
Charlie Creme already had them dropped to a 3 seed. All I have to say to that is how would you like to be a 2 seed and have to play UConn in the Elite Eight after they got back all those players. I guess the question for the committee is if on Selection day UConn has played the Big East Tournament with Bueckers, Westbrook, Willams, Nelson-Ododa and Jurhasz starting and Edwards, Griffin, Muhl, Ducharme and DeBerry coming off the bench, do they use the current team as the basis for their seeding or the 5-6 losses they might have had up to that point.
I just hope that everyone get's healthy so we can actually see how good this team could be.

A little more from Geno on what's going on with Paige - “She needed to solicit a couple other opinions and then the next step is there’s either going to be surgery or there’s not going to be surgery and that’s got to happen relatively soon,” Coach Geno Auriemma said after a 71-61 win over U.C.L.A.

Ya know, it didn't feel as bad as I thought it would. Yes, that Georgia Tech game was tough, but I'm over that already. The UCLA game was encouraging, something that an optimist like me can latch on to. But the drop to No. 7 in the poll? Not so painful. It was expected. Now, being tied with Tennessee at No. 7? That hurts!!!! The Lady Vols play Stanford on Saturday. GO CARDINAL!!!
Remember that unranked Georgia Tech team that beat UConn? Well, let's not underestimate how good that team is. They beat previously unbeaten and ranked Georgia team. They made the Sweet Sixteen last year and had most players returning. They were actually No. 26 before playing UConn. And finally, they are now ranked 18, a jump of 8 spots. The biggest move in this poll. Hey, it probably helps the SOS.
The SEC took a big hit in the Top 25 poll, with Texas A&M dropping 5 spots to No. 23 and Kentucky dropping 4 spots to No. 19. But they also have a few teams move up with Tennessee up two spots to No. 7, Georgia up 4 spots to No. 17 and Kim Mulkey has LSU up to No. 22, up 2 spots.
DePaul moved to No. 29, closing in on the top 25.
I thought Oklahoma would break the Top 25 but they fell one point short with 63.

Ok, maybe a little harsh, but.......it's a Tennessee fan, so if the shoe fits.......
More sad comments from Volnation.com. This time I am focusing on one particular poster. I am always amazed at this guys posts and his profile picture tells me not to publish my address. He could break me in two!!
I'll let his posts speak for themselves.
On UConn's drop in the rankings.
Uconn should be at #12 not tie with us
To me that's wrong...uconn got beaten by un rank team and they tie with us
After UConn lost to Georgia Tech
Too much of excuses. U still have team left with All Americans stars
Most teams have players injured okkk
So poor Geno and his team refused to talk to the media. Wat a shame and low class Geno. It's early, he go get lots of losing and maybe out of top 25.
On Mir McLean entering the transfer portal
Soon or later he will look 4 players like that
God pays arrogant ppl back one way or the other and his time is up.
On UConn playing Louisville.
Anybody will beat Uconn
On UConn beating UCLA
He didn't figure nothing out just that UCLA gave up.. Uconn never score pass 50 even with paige

The Have-Nots
I took a glance at the scoreboard and saw that Georgia Southern was beating up on Carver College. Georgia Southern is not one of the Division I elites. Although the record is now 7-2, that’s largely because they play a scheduled ranked number 326 in the country. They did beat Auburn but that’s looking like an anomaly. Massey picks UConn as 30 point favorite over Georgia Southern. As we struggle with the burden having a few players out, and the likelihood that we might actually lose a few games, it may be useful to recall that there is another world out there.
I confess I know almost nothing about Carver College. A quick Google search suggests it’s a Bible college but I haven’t even track down what division they are in. They were losing big when they looked at the scoreboard, and the result is now final with Georgia Southern winning 133 – 15. Carver was scoreless in the second quarter, but saved the best quarter for last, scoring six points in the final quarter.
Interestingly, that margin of victory is not close to the record. That honor goes to Savannah State who beat Wesleyan(Ga) 155 – 26 in 2018.
So is Carver College of the worst country? Doesn’t seem to be the case. Although the record is not that great — they are 1– 9, they do have a win over Toccoa Falls, and that wasn't a close call, they won 65 – 47. So perhaps Toccoa Falls is the worst team? Well, the record isn’t great but they do have a win, beating Johnson FL 88-54. Johnson FL is winless, and if not the worst team in the country, they’ve got to be in the neighborhood.

UConn has played 8 games so far and started 7 different players. Only Christyn, Evina and Liv have started all 8 games. Paige started 6 straight before her injury. Aaliyah has started 7 games, but has given way to Caroline Ducharme. Dorka Juhasz replaced and started for Paige for 2 games. That leaves Nika, Aubrey and Azzi, all of whom are injured, as potential starters if they get healthy. If those three eventually start, that would have Geno using 10 different starters this season.
Is that unusual? Last season, Geno started 8 different players. The season before, Geno only used 7 regular starters plus 2 bench players for Senior Night. The big difference this season is injuries. Aubrey started 5 games last season and might be a starter this year if not for nagging injuries. Nika was a starter 15 times last year. Her injuries are forcing Geno to use CD and/or Dorka as starters. Depending on how quickly players come back from injury, UConn could use 10 different starters this year. That is a lot of lineup changes and play may be ragged for a while as everyone adjusts.
Go Huskies..!!
