Game Quotes from Colgate Coach and her players
Player Evaluations
Breanna Stewart
What a great night for Stewie and what a great performance. Sometimes players struggle in this kind of environment, home town (kinda), in front of friends and family. But she is just a special player that had one of her best performances. In 29 minutes, she scored 22 points, shot 7-9 from the field, 3-4 on threes, had a career high 10 assists and was only 3 short of a triple double with 7 rebounds.
Moriah Jefferson
I think Jefferson felt it was Stewie's night and was going to make sure it was a good one. She only took 5 shots but handed out 7 assists.
Morgan Tuck
I said a few games ago that she would have an efficient game to bring up her shooting percentage, which has been unusually low. This was it, as she shot 10-11 from the field pushing her percentage to 50%. She scored 20 points in her 29 minutes.
Kia has been really struggling shooting the three ball, but it was good to see her keep shooting until she made one!! In her 26 minutes, she managed 11 points with some hard drives to the basket. I'm sure she will start hitting them at a higher clip soon.
Gabby Williams
I think Geno was sending Gabby a message by limiting her minutes. I'm not sure what he was upset about, but she didn't start the second half for the second straight game. She ended up doing ok in her 16 minutes with 11 points and 3 steals. I think Geno expects more.
Katie Lou Samuelson
Lou was under the weather and basically collapsed on the court after being lightheaded from dehydration. Her game suffered. Hopefully she is 100% for the next game. She played 19 minutes scoring 4 points, grabbing 4 rebounds and handing out 2 assists.
Napheesa Collier
This was one of Colliers best games with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. She showed that she can fill the stat sheet!! All in a season high 28 minutes.
Tierney Lawlor
Her new nickname is Ms. Perfect. She made the only shot she took, a three pointer. It was a contested one at that. She is now 3-3 on the season, 2-2 on threes.
Brianna Pulido
She got her minutes and took two shots. She didn't make them but I love watching her play!!
Courtney Ekmark
Courtney got some good minutes with the issue with Chong's knee and she took advantage of it. She was solid in her decision making, made a three pointer and had 7 points and 4 rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
Sanyia Chong
Sanyia sat out with soreness in her knee. This could be an ongoing problem all season.
Natalie Butler
Still not ready to play. Was there a setback? More to come.
De'Janae Boyton
Not looking for this season.
Final Thoughts
I'm starting to get concerned about the many injuries that don't seem to be getting better. Before the season started many fans were wondering how there would be enough minutes for all the good players. Looks to me it is working itself out.
Next game is against No. 11 Florida State at the Mohegan Sun. Look for my pregame report. Hopefully I can find the time to due this game justice!!
