Here is my UConn/Colgate Pregame Report
Stewie and her TWO families |

Quiet night in WCBB. Only one top 25 team played.
No. 5/4 Maryland defeated Loyola Maryland 97-47. I'm sure they are wondering why No. 3 Notre Dame didn't drop after losing to UConn. The power of the Huskies.
There were no AAC games.

Evaluating Katie Lou...
No player since Breanna Stewart came to UConn with more expectations of immediate super stardom than Katie Lou Samuelson. However, with those expectations, came criticism and negativity when every shot failed to go in and/or the player she was defending scored a basket. So how is Katie Lou doing? Consider the following:
1. Katie Lou has played 111 minutes in 6 games or an average of 18.5 per game. Many of those minutes have come early in the game when UConn's lead was small or, in the case of Notre Dame, late when the game was still close. Gabby has played 118 minutes and Napheesa has logged 103.
2. In her first three games, Lou shot 3-13 from three point range or 23%. However, in the last three games, she has shot 6-15 or 40%. Overall, her 32% from three point range is close to MoJeff (35%), Kia (36%) and Saniya (36%).
3. From inside the 3 arc, Lou is shooting 9-13 or 69%. She has demonstrated a willingness to drive to the basket and to shoot the short jumper. She is a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.
4. Her 17 rebounds are equal to Kia Nurse and 1 more than MoJeff, both of whom have 50-70 more minutes. Her 6 steals are 1 more than Morgan Tuck.
5. Lou has 8 personal fouls, tied with Tuck for fewest of the seven players with the most minutes. Her 7 turnovers are the lowest of those seven players.
6. Samuelson has 12 assists, including 11 in the last 4 games. Sounds like someone is getting comfortable in the system. Her assist total is more than Gabby (9) and more than Collier and Chong combined (7).
7. Katie Lou has scored 49 points in six games for a 8.2 per game average. However, her average scoring is 10.5 pts per game in the last four games.
Stewie has played 121 games for UConn. Katie Lou has played 6, all off the bench. She is learning the system, showing flashes of great talent and doing many of the little things well. That is about all UConn fans could hope for.
