I've been ignoring the crazies on the message board, but after UConn's incredible performance against Robert Morris there was a thread started about who would be the point guard next year.
Now, I do understand the question. And it's an interesting discussion - IN THE FUTURE!!
The timing is stupid. And the comments are even worse. The only funny thing is the posters trying to prove that they are smarter than everyone else.
"I said the exact same thing earlier, and was chastened for it. I still feel that way, and we're not alone. Others join us in our thinking. I'm predicting she gets promoted no later than the Christmas break. I don't hate on any of our girls. I love Saniya, but I gotta call 'em like I see 'em. Geno is not going to play favorites. He's going to put his best 5 on the court, whoever they are."
Yeah, call em like you see em...lol. No one knows how a player will progress from April to November. Not even this guy. You love Saniya? Doubtful.

Boy, was the Louisville/DePaul game fun to watch. DePaul won this tough fought battle 73-72. I'm so happy for one of my favorite coaches, Doug Bruno, who gets to the Sweet Sixteen over another terrific coach, Jeff Walz.
Great plays by great players. Only the silly foul by Louisville's Jackson marred the end. It was a tough charge call on Hines-Allen to give DePaul possession of the ball and the lead with 1.5 seconds left.

Tennessee is kinda playing up to their talent, beating No. 2 seed Arizona State XX-XX giving the Lady Vols a berth in the Sweet Sixteen. I know, I'm as surprised as you are!!!
Begrudging congrats to Tennessee. They now take on Ohio State. Tennessee's new found winning performances has been powered by their defense. We will see if they can slow down Kelsey Mitchell (who just scored 45 points against West Virginia) and their high powered offense.
Hey, if they can win two more game, they might see UConn in the Final Foul. And I just threw up a little in my mouth.
From David in Naples
UConn came into the game vs Robert Morris ranked 1st in the country in eight statistical categories and in the top 5 in two others. Their play against the Colonials certainly didn't hurt their standing in those stats. Consider:
1. UConn led the nation with a scoring average of 87.56 points per game, before hanging 101 on Robert Morris. That raised the season average to exactly 87.97 per game. We'll call it 88 per game.
2. The Huskies were first in scoring margin at 39.9 prior to the game. The 52 point difference can only help widen that margin.
3. Led by MoJeff (172) and Stewie (129), UConn has more assists per game than any other team. Last night they added 20 more against the Colonials.
4. UConn was 1st in blocks at 6.7 per game. Stewie had 3 to pass Rebecca Lobo as #1 at UConn. The team had 5 total.
5. The free throw accuracy lead over the rest of the nation, currently 79.6%, was extended on an amazing 25-27 performance at the charity stripe. That's 92.6%..!!
6. Even stats where UConn was 5th in the country, like steals at 12.2 per game, will benefit from the Huskies' grand larceny against Robert Morris. Seven players had 21 total steals, including Stewie with 8.
7. Assists per game, previously 21.7, will suffer because the Huskies only managed 20 vs Robert Morris. Bad dogs...
8. The win gave UConn 70 straight victories, tying the 2nd longest in women's basketball. That record, and the longest streak are also held by UConn.
In the end, there is only one number that matters. The Huskies have 10 of those and hope to add an 11th... Go UConn..!!

ReplyDeleteThanks Donna. I'll fix it.
DeleteI'm interested in finding out what you and your readers think about who will win the inevitable Baylor-UConn matchup. Baylor looks strong and BIG. Yeah, they lost a game, but can they beat UConn?
