I decided not to write a full Duquesne post game report. I'll be spending time watching the Mississippi State to prepare for my Pre Game Report.
Briefly, this MSU team had maybe the easiest OOC schedule of any top team. Maybe of any team in a major conference. Absolutely embarrassing. They were 2-6 against top 25 teams.
Lots of analysis to come.
From David in Naples
Morgan Tuck, Breanna Stewart and Moriah Jefferson played their first game for UConn on 11-11-12 against Charleston at Gampel Pavilion. Stewie started in the one sided exhibition victory over Charleston and Tuck and MoJeff played 20+ minutes each. Last night was the final game those three will play together at Gampel, and they went out with a glorious performance.
1. Stewie, Morgan and Moriah scored 61 combined points (21, 20, 20 respectively), outscoring Duquesne's entire team by 10 points.
2. The trio grabbed 29 rebounds vs 31 by Duquesne. Stewie had 16 total rebounds all by herself.
3. MoJeff and Tuck had 7 assists each, both exceeding the 8 total by their opponent.
4. Stewie blocked 5 shots, including an amazing 3 blocks in a single Duquesne possession.
5. MoJeff couldn't miss from three point range, hitting a career high 6 of 8 threes. Morgan and Stewie added one each.
6. Together, the three amigos shot 24-44 from the field or 54.5%.
7. In contrast to the first game in 2012, MoJeff & Morgan & Stewie started and played 34, 35 and 34 minutes and exited to a standing ovation.
UConn fans have been lucky to see four years of Moriah, Morgan and Breanna playing for the Huskies at Gampel. With three National Championships in the trophy case, there is still unfinished business ahead.

It's not "fun with numbers" but "fun with Davin in Naples", who saw this quote and had a great reply!
Emilie Gronas saw something Monday night in Duquesne’s 97-51 NCAA Tournament second-round loss to No. 1 Connecticut that’s seldom seen in women’s college basketball. She saw the Dukes go toe-to-toe with the top team in the nation for 15 minutes. And she saw something else.
“I saw some fear in their eyes, and that was great to see,” she observed. “Many other teams, they just stroll through and it looks so easy for them. I think they had to work for it today, especially in the beginning. I’m so proud of my teammates.”

Dear Emilie,
Please get to a doctor asap. Stewie, MoJeff and Morgan were not scared of you or Duquesne. They scored 61 points, while your whole team scored 51. Stewie blocked 3 shots on the same possession. Scared players don't do that. MoJeff made 6 three point baskets. I don't think that was from fear. You started, played 24 minutes and managed just one basket. Apparently the player guarding you was not scared. Your team shot less than 30% for the game and had more turnovers (14) than assists (8).
You were losing by 6 points after one period, 21 at the half and 46 by the end of the game. You do realize games are 40 minutes long, right? Look at the box score, Duquesne scored 7 points in the 2nd period? I'm pretty sure UConn's defense was not scared. Emilie, you had one basket, one assist and one turnover. Be proud of your team if you want, but what you saw from the Huskies was not fear. Trust me and get to that doctor.
