Just a heads up. There is a good chance I won't be able to write during the tournament. I'm going on a 3 day cruise that leaves on Friday out of Bayonne and just goes out to sea and returns on Monday morning. I will be bringing my laptop, but I have no idea about the internet access and if I will have any time to write.
I'm sure you all might have heard of the ship. It is now called the "Cursed" Anthem of the Sea. This is the ship that rode in the hurricane and had to come back early with a bunch of damage.

So, of course I was concerned, but we heard from the cruise line and everything was fixed and there would be no issues. Then this happened......
Anthem of the Seas a Cursed Ship? Another Cruise Sunk News Max
Geeze, did they have to use the word "sunk"??
Hopefully I'll return home safe and sound ready to take on the challenge of writing about the NCAA tournament.

From David in Naples
Stewie's stats against USF were truly amazing and just a little weird. Consider:
1. Stewie took 25 shots, by far the most all season. Her previous high, this year, was 18 shots in 5 different games.
2. She took 0 foul shots, despite bleeding twice from various muggings. The last time that happened was the earlier USF game. Apparently, they don't foul Stewie.
3. Breanna had 13 rebounds and 13 baskets.
4. MoJeff, Morgan, KLS and Stewie all had 1 three point basket. Kia equaled them with 4.
5. Stewie had more baskets (13) than Morgan, KLS and Moriah combined.
6. Stewart outscored USF 16-14 in the 3rd period.
7. Her only made 3 came with USF leading by 6, their largest lead of the night.
8. Stewie's basket to open the 3rd period gave UConn a lead (26-25) they never lost.
Stewie being Stewie, always amazing and a bit weird....

The one statistical oddity in UConn's otherwise sterling performance this year has been 3 point defense. Crazy shooting by some early teams left the Huskies ranked in the #321 headed into the Florida State game. Well, UConn has improved all the way to #121 with a 30.1% opponent success rate.
In the last 5 games, opponents have had the following 3 pt shooting results:
1. Temple, 6-22 for 27.3%
2. Cincinnati, 4-17 for 23.5%
3. East Carolina, 4-20 or 20.0%
4. SMU, 4-18 or 22.2%
5. Tulane, 4-19 or 21.1%
Those results compare favorably to opponents in UConn's toughest games, early in the season.
1. Notre Dame, 13-20 or 65%
2. DePaul, 13-29 or 44.8%
3. Colgate, 9-19 or 47.4%
4. Kansas State, 10-31 or 32.3%
5. Maryland, 8-21 or 38.1%
Teams have to shoot threes against UConn's superb defense. Some, like N.D. and DePaul, have had some success. Most haven't.

I was going to bring more UConn players dissection from the message board world and all that did was depress me.
I guess I'm into this sport and the UConn team for a different reason. To enjoy the game and talk about the players in a positive way. All the criticism, justified or not, just gets to me after a few minutes of reading.
People, just enjoy the team, enjoy the players and enjoy the domination. You won't see a time like this anytime soon.
