Straight from the Dog

The AP Poll is out and UConn has dropped from No. 2 all the way down to No. 8.

And deservedly so, South Carolina moved in the No. 1 spot. They have looked fantastic so far this season.

I don't think i have ever seen the years first poll drop so many teams so many places after only one week. It's really crazy.

UConn -6

LSU -6

Notre Dame -6

Maryland -6

Tennessee -4

WOW.

And the biggest drop? Indiana dropped NINE spots.

Of course there are big jumps as well.

South Carolina +5

Florida State +6

Stanford +9

USC +11

Colorado +15

And finally North Carolina, on the basis of beating UConn moved from out of the poll

to No. 14.

Congrats to No. 10 Tennessee on their 84-74 win over Memphis in overtime.

Their Superstar Rickea Jackson was out with a lower leg injury. She is day to day.

So, they proved that without Jackson they are every bit as good as a middle of the pack AAC team.

They had 24 turnovers. And shot 41% from the field and 21% on threes.

Can't wait to read the Tennessee message board. It's gonna be ugly!

No. 10 USC beat up on poor Le Moyne College 93-42. And for the Top Ten Trojans, freshman JuJu Watkins led the way with 35 points. She is not only the best freshman in the country, she is making a case for an All American season. Watkins was 12-20 from the field, 6-8 on threes and 9 rebounds. Whew!!

Milestone watch

• Aaliyah Edwards had 1232 career points after the Dayton game. She scored 21 in the NC State game. Her 1254 passes Kris Lamb and Megan Walker. She is now 41st.

• Nika Mühl had 438 assists after the Dayton game. She recorded 6 in the NC State game. She passed Kia Nurse for 20th place.

Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.
