Even my daughter (mother to Logan and Barrett)
is looking for my Blog!!!
GO UCONN!!!!!
Going on a cruise with my Wife, Son, Daughter-in-law and my two granddaughters, 16 and 14. We leave tomorrow and come back on Friday.
So, no blog until Friday night, depending on when we get back to the condo!
It's a Thanksgiving cruise?? Yep. Kinda different but I'm looking forward to the week off!!! Later!

You know who else will have a week off? The Huskies. They don't play until Friday against No. 3 UCLA in the Cayman Island Classic. I tried to convince Royal Carribean to take me to the Cayman Islands Friday. It's only 746 miles as the crow flys. Not happening.
Not a good game for UConn. They looked off again but managed to put together a good quarter and win by 18, 62-44 over Minnesota. The Golden Gophers final score was about what I thought they would get. But I figured UConn for another 30 points. Geno has to be concerned with the offense.
I have packing to do and I want to finish the UConn/UCLA pregame report before tomorrow So I'll be brief about this game.
They are just not shooting well. Is it shot selection? Lack of confidence? Wrong shot at the wrong time? All of this. They had 5 turnovers in the first 5 minutes. All just sloppy play with the ball. The good news is they only had 8 turnovers the remaining 35 minutes.
3-15 on threes just won't cut it against the better teams and they are really missing Fudd in this regard. Ducharme, who Geno said shoots so well in practice, is just struggling on the court, not just shooting. Geno only played her 13 minutes, so it's fair to ask what the scoop is about her lack of minutes.
Paige looked a little frustrated with her play. She was terrific for several minutes but kinda disappeared in spots. I'll blame the distraction of being "home" for some of that.
Edwards had a nice game. But early, when she could have set the tone, she was off. A few turnovers and missed bunnies.
Griffin was a no show in this game. 0-2 from the field, 1-2 from the line for her only point. Usually she will add to the team in other ways. Not this game. Only 4 rebounds.
Muhl was her usual pesky self on defense. She was 5-9 from the field and scored 11 points, hitting 1-4 threes. Only 3 assists but the entire team was short in that stat.
Someone said we needed 15 points from the freshmen. They got 17.
Brady is working herself into game shape. She scored 7 points in in 17 minutes and hit a three pointer. She only had 3 rebounds and UConn needs double that from her.
Arnold had 6 points and looked pretty good out there. She had the most minutes off the bench with 22. Her worse game in assist/turnover with 1/3.
Shade played her usual game. Hard working and smart. In 13 minutes she had 2 points, 1 assists and 1 steal. But no turnovers.
Not sure why her minutes were limited but Q only played 5 minutes. Of course she managed to take 5 shots, hitting 2 of them for her 4 points.
Overall the defense was ok. They gave up way too many offensive rebounds. That doesn't bode well against the bigger teams. But they have time to get better at defensive rebounding.
Ok....enough on this game. Nothing wrong with an 18 point win. Well, nothing except all the things I just mentioned!!!

Straight from the Dog
No upsets Sunday but a few close calls for Top 25 teams.
No. 6 Stanford was fortunate to beat Duke in OT. Brink is just a terrific players. 29 points and 11 rebounds. She is a tough matchup. But another game with foul trouble. She was able to still play 30 minutes.
No. 20 Maryland squeaked by unranked Syracuse 83-81 led by Shyanne Sellers' 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals. She is a real disrupter on the court. Kellie Kubek had a career game with 23 points on 10-14 shooting and 8 rebounds.
No. 14 NC State beat Rhode Island 67-58 in a game that was in doubt well into the fourth quarter. Rhode Island was up 56-55 with 3:29 remaining in the game but NC State finished the game on a 12-2 run to win going away. UConn slayer Saniya Rivers had 19 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals to lead the Wolfpack.

Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.

Tough game. Good energetic defense. Ice improves every game. KK hurt by fouls and turnovers. Caroline a little better.
Azzi’s family is amazing. They are at every game home and away whether she is playing or not, cheering on the team loudly and relentlessly. UConn is lucky to have them.
