Kansas Game Replay

At the the 5:10 mark of the 3rd quarter Aaliyah gets an elbow behind her ear and doesn't return. No foul was called, even after the play was reviewed. Sorry about the video quality. I took a video of a video but you can see the contact. You can also see Geno say "That's not a foul?".

CD on Aaliyah Edwards during the postgame radio show: "She's okay... I don't know exactly where she got hit, but she wasn't able to go."

Edwards took an elbow behind the ear in the third quarter and didn't return.

Sounds like she is fine and will be available for the Texas game. We just need to hear good news about Caroline Ducharme and Ayanna Patterson.

Straight from the Dog

It's amazing what a couple of early season losses can do to a fan base. I've read some crazy things about UConn from fans the last few days. Some are reasonable question. But there is a lot of Arm-Chair coaching going on. Play this player more, play that player less. Zblaming everyone from Geno to the Strength and Conditioning coach for injuries. But the one I'll address here are the complaints about UConn recruiting. I'm sure you saw the Allie Ziebell tweet I posted in this blog. She is a hell of a player.

So, has UConn recruiting suffered?

Lets look starting in 2020.

2020 - No. 1 Bueckers, No. 23 Edwards, No. 25 McLean and Muhl (not ranked overseas player)

2021 - No. 1 Fudd, No. 5 Ducharme, No. 15 DeBerry, 30 Poffenbarger

2022 - No. 4 Patterson, No. 5 Brady

2023 - No. 6 Arnold, No. 15 Shade, No. 41 Samuels

2024 - No. 4 Ziebell, No. 18 Cheli

2025 - No. 23 Fischer, soon to be ranked Grandy

If you count the portal you have to include Juhasz and Lopez-Senechal.

And they are still in the running for No. 1 Strong and in the 2026 class Olivia Vukova a 6'4" center and No. 2 in that class is believed to have UConn as her favorite.

I'd match their success over the 6 year I noted with any school. No, UConn is not struggling with recruiting.

Now injuries? Yeah, that is a different story.

• Aaliyah Edwards had 1270 career points after the Minnesota game. She scored 5 in the UCLA game bringing her total to 1275. She is now 41st and needs to reach 1298

to tie Morgan Tuck.

• Nika Mühl had 447 assists after the Maryland game. She recorded 3 in the UCLA game bringing her total to 450. She needs to reach 455 to tie Katie Lou Samuelson for 19th place.
