GO UCONN!!!!!
This has been the craziest opening 10 days in WCBB that I can remember. Ready for this?
No. 1 LSU, No. 2 UConn, No. 4 (opened at 5) Utah, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 8 Virginia Tech, No. 9 Indiana, No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 11 Tennessee all lost.
That's 8 of the top 11 teams lost. Think about that. Only Iowa, UCLA and South Carolina didn't lose.
The polls now are just a joke. How far down should each team move after losing? And how far up should teams move? It's all a guess.
And Charlie SECreme had Utah as a No. 1 seed. How far will he drop them?

Straight from the Dog
Yesterday I called JuJu Watkins the best freshman in the country. Not so fast!!
The LSU freshman Mikayla Williams set the Tigers' freshman scoring record in their 109-79 win over Kent State.
She had 42 points, 32 in the second half.
She was 15-20 from the field, 5-8 on threes, 7-7 from the free throw line. 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Wow!!!
Interesting that she played 36 minutes in the blowout. And Mulky sat Reese the entire second half. Sending a message?
"Reese's first shot attempt on Tuesday was a 3-pointer and she later made a step-back from around 17 feet, neither of which appeared to meet Mulkey's approval. But she said postgame she liked "the matchups on the floor" when asked why Reese didn't play in the third and fourth quarters."

The joy of being in the top 10
1. LSU LOSS
2. UConn LOSS
3. Iowa
4. UCLA
5. Utah LOSS
6. South Carolina
7. Ohio State LOSS
8. Virginia Tech LOSS
9. Indiana LOSS
10. Notre Dame LOSS
That's right, seven of the top ten teams already have a loss.
Two of them are by definition. South Carolina played Notre Dame and Iowa played Virginia Tech. No matter what, that was going to result in two losses.
The other five weren't quite so obvious.
And it isn't the case that a fortunate buzzer beater created an upset. Here are the margins of six of the games:
LSU lost by 14
UConn lost by 11
Notre Dame lost by 29
Ohio State lost by 7
Utah lost by 7
Indiana lost by 32
Only Virginia Tech falling by 4 could be considered a close call.
Yes, identifying the rankings in the preseason is tough. But this seems like an unusually high number of losses by high ranked teams.
Is this parity — what everyone's been predicting and asking for?
Were any of the top teams unreasonably ranked?
Utah is a team not typically dwelling in the upper ranks, but they came within a hair's breath of defeating LSU in the tournament last year and I think returned everyone, so a lofty ranking seemed warranted.
In retrospect, South Carolina seemed to of been ranked too low, but they lost every single one of their starters. If someone had called for them to be ranked number one we would've been laughed out of the building.
