They didn't lose but the bloom is off the rose for ex-superteam South Carolina. Yes, they beat North Carolina on their home court but the final score was 65-58 in a game that was even closer than that 7 point margin.
The Gamecocks didn't score for the first 4:27. They were down 9 at the end of the first quarter, down 3 at the half and it took a big third quarter for SC to build enough lead that they could hold on to. It was still a 2 point game late in the fourth quarter before they put the game away with free throws.
South Carolina came into this game with a +23 rebounding margin and were outworked on the boards
45-39. Their leading scorer Cardoso only scored 6 points in this game.
Hey, they might win the rest of their games, but other teams will watch this tape to see if they can use it to beat the Gamecocks.
Yes, the player that everyone loves, respect, and....wait....my bad.
The most arrogant and selfish player in WCBB is back. Angel Reese is blessing LSU with her presence.
Funny how Mulkey brourght her back in time for one of the few difficult OOC games against Virginia Tech. I'm not sure she made THE difference but she made A difference. If she didn't play Del Rosario, their freshman center, would have had to play some minutes and she is just not ready.
LSU had four players with double digit scoring in Reese (19), Williams (20), Morrow (19) and Johnson (13) to lead the way. But this is now a vew small LSU team. They start 4 guards although Morrow is a forward in my mind at 6'1" but Reese at 6'3" is the only height besides Del Rosario who is 6'6" but as I said, she isn't seeing many minutes.
Hailey Van Lith is still struggling to find her way. She had only 7 points but did hand out 5 assists.
Virginia Tech is a little overrated. They will drop a few spots after this loss to out of the Top 10. They have hammered the bad teams they've played but only beat Kansas by one point and Tulane by only 6 points.

Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.
