A Daily look at scores from yesterday, a list of top performers in those games and of course a little opinion.

I loved Geno's Christmas wish for everyone. All he left out was who specifically he was talking to. But when he said "There are lots of people complaining. It would bee nice if for a couple days around Christmas, people would look around and appreciate the good things they have." all I could think of was how so many fans focus on every little thing wrong with their favorite teams instead of enjoying all the good things they see. Especially with an excellent team such as UConn. I'm not saying there aren't things wrong, but when I see complaints about the first 5 minutes of a 36 point win, I just shake my head.

One more game to prove how matchups make such a difference. Kentucky, a good team who beat Louisville and Baylor, struggles with big front lines and Duke was no exception. Kentucky's starting lineup on the frontline is 6'3 Bishops and 6'1" Goodin-Rogers and they certainly aren't "big" players and struggle with players like 6'3" Williams, 6'5" Stevens, 6'4" Chidom, 6'4" Henson. There was no way they were going to stop them and the fifty-one combined points they scored is the proof. I would say we will see similar results when they play South Carolina.

Shocking score of the day? Ohio State 96 - No. 21 West Virginia 54. Really. I'm not kidding. How the heck can a top 25 team lose by 42 points to an unranked and so far unimpressive Ohio State team. You have to give a lot of credit to the Buckeyes. The freshman Kelsey Mitchell was amazing with 39 points. More amazing, she was 8-10 on three pointers.
But still, giving up 96 points to anyone is not good and only scoring 54 is not good. Doing that in the same game? Not only not good......it's embarrassing and pathetic.

I really enjoyed what Lobo had to say about Stokes. I have watched this young woman struggle to find herself at UConn. She has had her moments and certainly some great games. But until this year I haven't seen that "look". You know the one. Where the player looks so sure of themselves. Where they tell you with their body language that they know they belong out there. Stokes was as good as I've seen her the last two games. Her offensive aggressiveness in the UCLA game was a long time coming. I really expect to see Stokes show this on a much more consistent basis. Having a double double coming off the bench is a great weapon for an already dominating team.

Marshall beat Brescia tonight 127-56. Now who is Brescia? I had not idea. So I looked it up. First I tired to click on their name on the ESPN scoreboard. It wasn't clickable. Why, you might ask? They aren't in the NCAA. So, I looked them up in a search engine.
So what is Brescia?
Well, it's not a breakfast drink.
It's not an insurance company.
It's not a little blue pill.
It's an NAIA team. NAIA is the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes, an association of small colleges. Brescia is located in Kentucky and has an enrollment of 566 students. While there are Division I schools in the NAIA, Brescia is a Division II team. They have only one player on their roster that is listed as a forward. And she is 5'10".
Brescia, the yummiest cupcake you will ever see this late in the OOC season by a Div I team. Someone is returning a favor, or the coaches are buddies. But Marshall should be on a low carb/sugar free diet this late in the season.
