Tennessee's Tournament hopes have finally been buried
UConn has it's last home game on Saturday against Houston, who they beat 81-61 way back in early January. It was UConn's next game after losing for the first time this season against Baylor. They dominated the second quarter but were not very consistent in this game. They did shoot 55.9% from the field but were only 5-19 on threes. And they only had 17 assists for 33 baskets along with 18 turnovers. Not good. But it was their 4th straight road game wrapped around Christmas/New Years break. It showed in their play.
Houston has played well since losing to UConn, going 9-4 in the conference. They lost their last game to South Florida 59-49.
Game Highlights from the first matchup
This game is a tough one to predict. I am confident of an easy win, but Senior Night is always a tough game. Way too many emotions getting in the way of good basketball. Hopefully the jitters leave quickly and UConn can have a great game to honor Katie Lou and Napheesa.

No. 3 Louisville slapped around a slipping No. 10 North Carolina State 92-62 behind Asia Durr's 47 points, which tied her career high. After winning their first 21 games, NC State is now 3-4 in their last seven games. And to lose by 30???
No. 17 Texas A&M beat No. 11 Kentucky 62-55 on the Wildcats home court. A bad loss for them. And a great win for Texas A&M. Chennedy Carter had a terrific game for A&M, with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. She is going to be a great pro. A&M is on a roll and one of the hottest teams in the SEC. After losing their first two conference game, the Aggies are 9-2 in this last 11 games since playing UConn.

Tennessee's Tournament hopes have finally been buried
This game wasn't a top 25 game but the results were so shocking I had to write something about it.
Vanderbilt beat Tennessee 76-69 for the first time in their history. They have been playing each other since 1976 and the Commodores had lost 33 straight games to the Lady Vols.
I checked this game out on WatchESPN. It was like a bad accident. I couldn't stop watching.
This version of Tennessee is so messed up. You can watch them get deflated as Vanderbilt caught them in the third quarter. And after that, the Lady Vols just played some terrible basketball. Quick shots, bad shots, turnovers and some really bad defense was the reason for this loss. Oh, and totally inept coaching. It's like this team is basically a pick up team. No clue how to play team basketball.
They also have bad attitudes on the court. They mope. They complain constantly to the refs. I saw Davis complain to a ref after she clearly traveled, he looked to speak strongly back to her and she continued to jaw at him. Not good.
Warlick is possibly the worst NCAA coach, men or women, in the country. Now, I'm not one that is overly impressed with their talent. Most pundits talk about how little they do with great talent. I just don't think the players are very good. The question is, does not making the NCAA tournament force the Tennessee AD's hand and he fires Warlick? I hope not. I like how bad Tennessee is.
So how bad? Well, they are now 17-11 and 6-9 in the conference. Charlie Crème has Tennessee out of the tournament. I'm not sure a win against Ole Miss in their last game of the season will help. And who thinks they will win? The players look like they have packed it in.
I'd look for a player or two to transfer. It's such a mess there.

Crystal Dangerfield has 169 assists so far this season. Dividing by 28 games gives an average of 6.03 assists per game. How many of the Huskies previous guards have averaged 6 assists per game for a whole season? Exactly zero. Not Diana, not Sue Bird, not MoJeff. That is some pretty rare air.
Crystal also has 50 turnovers to go with her 169 assists. That gives her an Assist/Turnover ratio of 3.38, which is spectacular. Normally, an Assist/Turnover ratio of 2 is great for point guards. Arike Ogunbowale, the best guard in America, has a ratio of 1.74 and Asia Durr has a ratio of 1.78 for this season. Chump change compared to Crystal.
As a freshman, Crystal had 114 assists. That improved to 142 as a sophomore and now 169 so far this year. That total of 425 assists is only 48 away from 15th place all-time at UConn. And, Crystal could have 11 more games to play this season. And, all of next year..!!
Go Huskies..!!
