I'm still pissed off about the Central Florida game. Man, they were just so chippy. I try not to use the word "thug" but boy, they came close.
Memphis, UConn's next opponent, doesn't play this way. In fact, on offense, I'm not sure how they play at all. They only average 58 points per game. They shoot only 36% from the floor, 24% on threes. They average 11 assists and 19 turnovers per game. They scored 48 points in losing to Toledo, 38 points in losing to George Washington, 39 points in losing to Tulsa. But they are coming off a
65-59 win over Tulane so they have that going for them. Overall they are 10-15 for the season and 5-7 in league play.
Jamirah Shutes a 5'6" guard is the leading scorer on this team at 13.9 per game. But she only shoots 35% from the field and 23% on threes. Alana Davis is their 6'2" sophomore forward who is their most efficient player. She shoots 52% from the field and averages 12.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Memphis is a terrible three point shooting team, but it doesn't stop them from taking them. They have three players who have taken 105, 98 and 90 three point shots. But they shoot 23%, 23% and 22% on those shots. Ugly.
On top of that, they haven't come close to playing a defense as good as UConn's.
Here is an early prediction. Pain. Lots of Pain for Memphis. They could lose by 50+ points.

In a huge impact to the NCAA tournament seedings and the prospects of the very talented Oregon team, the No. 2 Beavers lost to No. 12 Oregon State 67-62 in a very exciting game. Yes, the loss might drop Oregon from the overall No. 2 seed in the NCAA's at this time, but the biggest impact is the possible loss of their center Ruthy Hebard to a knee injury. She hurt the knee with a couple of minutes left in the first half and did not return in the second half playing a total of 13 minutes. If she is lost for any length of time, the Beavers will be impacted severely in both the PAC 12 tournament and the NCAA tournament.

After winning their first 21 games and being the last undefeated team this season, North Carolina State has lost 3 out of their last four and was absolutely destroyed by Notre Dame at home losing
95-72. And it wasn't that close. NC State might be a little overrated and a product of an easy early schedule.

Yesterday's game versus UCF was strange in several ways. For example, UCF scored only 4 points in the 1st period, but then outscored the Huskies 13-11 in the 2nd. Consider some other weird stats:
1. Katie Lou missed every shot she took from the field (0-5), but made every free throw she tried (12-12).
2. Olivia had as many blocks (3) as UCF made threes (3-13).
3. Megan, Christyn and Olivia lead UConn in fouls with a combined 142. Yesterday they had a combined 1 foul.
4. UConn shot 53% in the 1st period, then only 25% in the 2nd. But in the 3rd period, they caught fire at 62%.
5. Napheesa had a double-double in points (18) and rebounds (11). Her other stats were also double... 1 block, 2 free throws, 4 steals and 8 baskets.
6. UCF had more fouls (19) than baskets (17), also triple the turnovers (23) vs assists (8).
7. The Huskies went 2-10 on threes in the first half, then caught fire at 6-9 (67%) in the second half.
8. UConn shot 90% from the charity stripe (18-20). UCF shot 100%, but only had 4 tries.
Go Huskies..!!
