It's always a challenge to come up with things to write about when there is a big gap between games and with UConn off until Sunday, this is one of those times. Fortunately UConn had a great three games at home that are worth looking into in more detail.

The Huskies offense, after a few weeks of looking off, found their stride in these three games. The numbers (sorry David) are just fantastic.
5.1
The shooting was just out of this world. They were 121-206 from the field for a sparkling 61.6%. They were also 32-66 on threes for a solid 48.5%. They had 68 assists for an average of 23 per game, better than their season average.

Collier was just over the top on these three games. She went 10-10, 12-16 and 15-23. That's 37-49 for 75.5%. Insane. She averaged 27.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5 assists. Player of the Year numbers.

Samuelson wasn't far behind. She was 25-39 for 64.1%. And she was 8-14 on threes for 57%. She averaged 26.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists. Co-Players of the Year???

Dangerfield did her "best point guard in the country" thing and it was beautiful. She averaged 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 8.3 assists. She also shot 47.1% on threes. All-American numbers.

Lastly I'll highlight Williams' numbers in these games. She had really hit the freshman wall but appears to have broken through. She was 15-25 for 60% from the field. And she found her long range shot as well, going 6-9 in the three games for 66.7%.

UConn's opponent on Sunday, UCF, is not going to be easy to score against so it will be interesting to see if UConn can carry forward their terrific offensive play. Breaking 80 would be an accomplishment against UCF.

By David in Naples!!!!!

Everyone agrees that Megan and Christyn are the 4th and 5th options in the UConn offense. What fans might not realize is how close they are in stats and contributions. For example, Megan has scored 269 points. Christyn has 263. Assists are almost tied at 41 and 43. Baskets scored? How about 104 each..!  Three pointers? Megan has 31, Christyn 28. Same with free throws. Megan 30, Christyn 27. Steals give a slight edge to Christyn, 28-22. Blocked shots, almost the same at 4 for Christyn and 3 for Megan.

Although Megan missed 2 games, their minutes per game are close at 31.4 (Christyn) and 30.5 (Megan). The only stat that doesn't match up is rebounds. Megan has 140 total versus 76 for Christyn. Although, the offense rebound totals are closer at 37 vs 27 for Megan. Finally, the shooting % for each is fairly even at 51% for Christyn and 47.5% for Megan.

Both will be critical for any deep run in the NCAA tournament. Good to know they both can play at a top level.

Go Huskies..!!
