UConn is taking on Seton Hall for the second time this year, this time in Storrs. UConn won that game handily, but their mini-mite Lauren Park-Lane was tough to guard and scored 29 points.
Tonight the Hall is taking on Butler and the won that game 79-64. Nice win for the Pirates. Park-Lane had a nice game with 18 points and 7 assists. However, she wasn't the high scorer. Playing for the first time after transferring from Mississippi State and prior to that UConn was Andrea Espinoza-Hunter.
Touted as a great shooter, she had her moments for MSU, but never bought into Vic's style. She seemed lost on defense and wasn't a very good passer either. In this game she got really hot. She score 23 points on 7 three pointers and a couple of foul shots. And typically she had zero assists. UConn will have to make sure they cover her well, but it won't be easy with Park-Lane driving the lane and kicking it out for an open three.

The UConn Husky is banging the drum. And it's for the great class of 2021.
When we we have quiet time before the next game, I'd like to preview the 4 players in the class of 2021, Azzi Fudd, Caroline Ducharme, Saylor Poffenbarger and Amari DeBerry.
All four are great players.
First up will be the consensus No. 1 recruit and what some are saying the best shooter coming into college in a long time. And that includes Katie Lou Samuelson and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis.
From ESPN - "Fudd, who was 12 when she received her first scholarship offer, has been compared to WNBA superstar and likely Hall of Famer Maya Moore. At 15, she outshot the best boys' prospects in the country at Stephen Curry's SC30 Select Camp. At 16, she became the first sophomore in history to win the Gatorade National Girls' Basketball Player of the Year award. "
Wow, those are some accolades. Especially winning the Gatorade POY award as a sophomore.
She had an ACL injury and missed her junior season but came back in her senior season and one she got back in game shape, she was the same incredible player.
Best friends with Paige Bueckers, they have a special chemistry together. Paige stayed with Azzi for weeks this summer and I'm sure the constant "come on, go to UConn with me" paid off!
Here are a few videos of them together. You can see how close they are.
And a few where they actually played against each other
And finally a workout video
Three years together will bring championships to UConn.
And just one more video. This one will show all the offensive game that Azzi has. The long three, the pull up jumper, the drive to the basket. She is just an offensive machine.

No postponed or cancelled Top 25 games.
This game was the only one on the schedule impacted by Coronavirus - Hampton vs UNC Ashville was postponed.

There is a wonderful lesson that "practice makes perfect" happening with Aubrey Griffin this season. Last year, Aubrey was the 2nd most frequently fouled player behind Megan Walker. She took 93 foul shots versus Megan's 95. The problem is she only made 56 of those tries and that is only 60.2%. Not good...! Fast forward to the first 7 games of this season and Aubrey has made 13 of 16 free throw tries. That is 81.3%..!! Way to go Aubrey..!! (Maybe you could give Olivia a tip or two...)
Go Huskies..!!
