12/3/21 Game Highlights
This game is going to be totally different than the first matchup in several ways.
1. UConn will be without Bueckers (21 points, 7 assists, 9 rebounds), Williams (17 points). Big losses.
2. UConn adds in a rising star in Ducharme, who will make up for some of those stats.
3. Seton Hall loses Harris (14 minutes, scoreless)
4. Seton Hall adds in Espinosa-Hunter, one of their best players.
5. UConn is at home
So, with a 25 point win in the first matchup, how does the new lineups impact the final result?
Bigtime!
In their last game, Seton Hall beat a pretty weak St. John's team 84-79 playing only 6 players. They could be a a little tired coming into this game. Park-Lane and Espinosa-Hunter both player the full 40 minutes, Cook played 39 minutes, Benbrey played 35 minutes, Jackson played 25 minutes and Armstrong played 16 minutes.
We have seen how impactful Park-Lane can be based on last years first matchup so she is certainly a wildcard. Without Williams to help on defense It will be up to Muhl to play extended minutes and try to slow her down without getting into foul trouble. I'm concerned about that. And who will cover Espinosa-Hunter? Maybe Westbrook? If UConn zones to protect the players, can they keep those two from getting hot from the outside?
UConn's but advantage is in the post and the newly reinvigerated Nelson-Ododa will have to have another big game. She had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the first matchup. She will have to do more. Edwards had a very good game the first time they played this season. She had 12 points and 7 rebounds from the staring lineup. Juhasz played only 15 minutes but grabbed 10 rebounds. But she only scored 5 points. UConn needs scoring with Paige and Christyn out.
That brings me to Westbrook. Her defense will be huge if UConn is to win this game with a safe margin. And her scoring will be just as important. Hopefully with the time off since the Oregon game, Geno will have had some time to work the team without Williams.
In the first game, Ducharme played a total of 6 minutes and had zeros across the board. Something tells me this game will be different...lol.
This game won't be easy. I fear that Seton Hall will be sky high and could jump on the Huskies early. If that happens, can UConn withstand the early deficit and take over the game?
Ok...enough doom and gloom. UConn has the more talent on the court, even with the missing players and will use their size to dominate the boards and get plenty of second half points and fast break points as well.
Prediction? UConn by 15+.
Go huskies!

I know it’s been bad news after bad news for the injured or Covid exposed Huskies, but here is a tiny bit of good news from Geno.
“This week, Azzi has been able to get some really, really good rehab going and has been able to get some individual work done on the court for about half an hour since we got back (from Oregon) two or three times. The plan is to keep adding more time and then keep evaluating and seeing how it feels and and go from there. Then, see if we can get her on court for actual practice at some point”
Soon.

And here are a couple of UConn targets, No. 1 recruit in 2023 Mikaylah Williams a 6' guard and No. 4 recruit in 2023 Breya Cunningham a 6'4" post.
#NBC6Blitz: Good luck finding a high school athlete more accomplished than @ParkwayWbb's Mikaylah Williams (@mkwill12_). Despite all of her accolades, this week's @MarketplaceChev player of the week is striving for more.

Straight from the Dog
Wow....what a night in WCBB!
Let’s start with the upsets.
Not really an upset outside of the rankings, but No. 4 NC State beat No. 3 Louisville 68-59. The final score doesn’t tell you everything about this game. Louisville dominated the first three quarters, leading 51-37 heading into the final 10 minutes. Something changed. Mostly NC State’s full court pressure. Louisville appeared to panic, throwing the ball away several times. And the Wolfpack took advantage blowing by Louisville, outscoring the Cardinals 31-8 in the fourth quarter for the big win.
No. 19 Notre Dame lost to Unranked BC 73-71. The Eagles came back from an eight point halftime deficit and down six points with five minutes left in the game. Notre Dame managed to get two shots to tie with 4 seconds but couldn’t knock down the needed basket. I just love then the Irish lose.
Last week, after Kentucky lost twice, they only dropped from No. 19 to No. 23. Well, they lost Thursday night to Unranked Florida and it wasn’t close. The Gators hammered the Wildcats 77-52 in a game that was over early. So, while I thought Kentucky should have dropped out of the Top 25 last week, they can say so long in the next poll.
No. 12 Maryland played their usual great defense in their 95-89 loss to Unranked Ohio State. The Buckeyes were led by Taylor Mikesell with 32 point. The Terps allowed Ohio State to shoot 55% from the field and 57% on threes.
One last game. In Iowa’s 105-49 win over Minnesota, Caitlin Clark had another triple double with 35 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assist. She makes me miss Paige even more.

NISE is the Naples Index of Shooting Efficiency. It measures the number of shots it takes a player to score their points in a game. For example, Caroline has scored 135 points on 114 shots and 20 free throws. So her NISE is 1.007 (135 point divided by 134 total shots).
Here are some other NISE:
Here are some other NISE:
1. Paige - 1.16 (127 points / 106 shots)
2. Christyn - 0.94 (175 points/ 186 shots)
3. Olivia - 1.08 (131 points / 121 shots)
4. Evina - 0.875 (119 points / 136 shots)
Shooting efficiency results match our overall impressions of who the best shooters are on the Huskies..!!
Go UConn..!!
P.S. - Azzi Fudd has a NISE of 1.25 (30 points / 24 total shots) That is a small sample size.
