Happy Birthday to my big sister Carol!!!
Love you Sis!!!!
That's her on the right!!
In case you missed it here is my UConn/South Carolina Post Game Report.
And my UConn/Tulane Pre Game Report.
Tough luck for the rest of WCBB. Geno has a contract that now goes through the 2020-21 season. That takes him through Megan Walker's senior season and the rest of the wonderful 2017 class. He will be 67 years old at that time.
That is still young enough to sign another 5 years. As long as he loves what he is doing, I fully expect him to stay at UConn.
At least I hope so!!!

Lots of top 25 games tonight - some observations......
<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
No. 6 South Carolina hammered Vanderbilt 82-51. A good bounce back win after their loss to UConn on Monday night. However, I'm a little perplexed on how they had such a large MOV when they had some horrible stats. South Carolina was 3-18 on threes. They were 15-31 on free throws. They were outrebounded 41-37 and they gave up 15 offensive rebounds. Most games, you lose those kind of games. And you certainly don't score 82 points either. So how did they do it? Well, they were 29-49 on two pointers. That's almost 60%. But the main reason was the horrible shooting by Vanderbilt. They were 12-53 from the field and 4-18 on three. And two starters fouled out and 3 others had four fouls.
Yes, another efficient SEC game.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Virginia beat No. 4 Florida State handing the Seminoles their second straight loss 60-51. They had a 5 point lead going into the fourth quarter but were only able to score 5 points to Virigina's 19 points for the final nine point margin.
There were some really ugly numbers in this one. Florida State was 4-23 on threes. Imani Wright was 1-11 on threes. Romeo was 1-5. Brown was 1-5. You can't win shooting like that. Looks like a bigtime hangover from the double overtime loss to Texas on Monday night.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
No. 7 Notre Dame really struggled with a terrible Clemson team winning 84-80. Marina Mabrey score 29 points, making 3-5 threes. The offense was not a problem. But to allow a team like Clemson to score 80 points is a big problem. Clemson is now 14-13 and 3-11 in the ACC. Not a usual ND defensive team.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
No. 3 Mississippi State showed how a top 3 team is NOT supposed to play when they slipped by a lousy Georgia team by holding the Bulldogs to only 7 points in the fourth quarter and winning 58-49. I don't see much difference in this version of Mississippi State.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
In Tennessee's 65-57 loss to Alabama, Diamond Deshields was injured and taken off in a stretcher. Going for a loose ball, diamond collided with an Alabama player. A definite neck injury. They put the collar on and strapped her to the stretcher.
She he didn't move after the collision. Real scary situation. She weakly waved to the Alabama fans that applauded as she was wheeled off.
I give this this young lady a tough time, but that was basketball. This is life. My prayers go out to her and I hope it's not as serious as it looked.
This was a bad loss for a Tennessee team that is fighting for their seedings spot. Alabama is a terrible team. Emotionally, to see your leader taken off on a stretcher has to have a terrible impact on the players. You could see how upset they were as they watched her lay still on the floor. It's tough to play clear headed. And basketball wise, they lost their leading scorer and the player that has taken the most shots on the team. Deshields dominates the ball and to play without her on the road is just not easy.

No. 23 Texas A&M was upset by LSU 67-63. Does A&M slide back out of the top 25? Maybe it wasn't an upset? Which leads me into the next section.........

That's 14 more teams making 26 teams that occupied the 21-25 slots in the poll over the 15 week season.
I'm not sure what this means, but it was fun to look up!

And some Numbers from DoggyDaddy before you get to David's.
Maybe the worst three point shooting night of any single night all season.
Georgia 2-12
Mississippi State 3-18

Michigan 4-19
Florida State 4-23

That's 12 teams shooting 43-205 a sparkling 20.9%.
Ok.....I hear you........they deserve this!!!!!

By David in Naples!!!!!
Napheesa Collier has 33 turnovers in her 742 minutes of play. That comes to one turnover every 22.5 minutes on the court. She is the only player on UConn, with not only more assists than turnovers (54 vs 33), but also more steals (47 vs 33) and more blocked shots (43 vs 33). Her good stats far outweigh her bad ones. Her 201 baskets leads the Huskies, as does her 67% field goal percentage and 217 rebounds. Collier's 477 points are 2nd on the team to Katie Lou's 519. Pheesa quietly contributes in every phase of the game, at both ends of the court.
Napheesa has shattered her freshman statistics in almost every category. Points are up (477 vs 258), rebounds higher (217 vs 197) and made three pointers too (10 vs 2). Steals (47 vs 50) and blocked shots (43 vs 47) should both be eclipsed shortly. Only her 91.7% free throw accuracy rate will survive her super sophomore campaign (80.2% vs 91.7%). Even there, however, made free throws is already way ahead (65 vs 44). She does everything, and does it all really well.
Even more amazing, Napheesa's stats are generally made playing against tall interior players. She and her pint sized partner, Gabby, always give away several inches, but never less than 100% effort and heart..!!
Go Huskies..!!

How does GENO incorporate all 14 ? Perspective players next year? Particularly since he recently stated his ideal rotation is 8 players

Geno will do something along those lines. No one more than 24 minutes and spread them all out.
