Got up early for my Granddaughter Noa's cheer competition in West Palm. We drove by the airport and saw Airforce One. It was very cool. No sign of the President.

Noa and her team did great. They compete again Sunday before the awards are handed out.

Then spent 3 hours at the pool. I don't want to go home!

I posted this yesterday -

I didn't write a  Pre Game Report for the first matchup between UConn and Tulsa so I'm not going to do that for the second game. But here is the link to my Post Game Report from the first matchup that will give you an idea on how this game should go.

Tulsa was crazy hot from the outside and I'm sure Geno will remind his players of how that occurred. I would expect some really tight defense on the perimeter.

Tulsa put up 17 three point shots in each half and hit 8 of them in the first half and 5 in the second half. I can see them putting up 34 again but no way they make 13 of them.

Last game was a 98-58 win for the Huskies. Look for a larger margin this time on UConn's home court.

UConn by 50+.

Here is a link to an article about 2017 recruit Megan Walker. There is a video full of highlights. All from one game. At the end of the video, she attempts a dunk.

I was thrilled to see the diversity of her game. She finished with both hands, showed post moves, mid-range jumpers and three pointers. Great hands on defense as well.

Her 6'1" frame is solid, but not muscular yet. When she gets in the UConn weight room, she will get so much stronger.

No transcendent player at UConn like Moore, Stewart, Taurasi? There will be soon.

Two more upsets in the top 25 Saturday and two close calls. The bottom 5 of the top 25 is so fluid this year.

No. 21 Green Bay lost their second game this week to mid-level mid-major teams. This time they lost to Detroit-Mercy 76-72. Say goodbye to the top 25.

No. 22 West Virginia, who battled No. 2 Baylor in a close game last week, lost to unranked Iowa State 80-55. A 25 point loss to a mid-level BIG 12 team? You have got to be kidding me. They have now lost three of their last four games and are 3-7 in their last ten games. The respect some Power-5 teams get is just pathetic. They better be out of the top 25 on Monday.

No. 12 Texas was in a tough battle with Kansas State, finally putting them away 80-55. Kansas State has had a pretty good season so far. They should be in the top 25 ahead of either Green Bay or West Virginia.

No. 18 Oklahoma won in a close game with Oklahoma State 66-60. I haven't been impressed with Oklahoma although I really like Gabby Ortiz's game.

By David in Naples!!!!!

Stanford beat USC (the one in California) last night for Tara Vanderveer's 1,000th win. Stanford was in control throughout the game and ended up winning 58-42. They are now 20-3 and #8 in the country. The point in mentioning all this is that Stanford scored 6 points in the whole 4th period. Six..!  The number after five and before seven..!! They scored these 6 points against a team with 10 loses. No team ranked 8th in the country should get a win if they only score 6 points in a ten minute period.

The Mendoza line for poor scoring in a quarter should be 15 points. Do that four times and your team has 60 points and a chance to win. Fail to get 15 and you will probably lose. In 84 periods this season, UConn has failed to score 15 points only eight times. And, never twice in one game. The lowest scoring quarter was 10 points against Kansas State in the 4th quarter. UConn was up 28 and scored 75 points for the whole game. The next two worst quarters came against DePaul and Notre Dame when UConn scored only 11 points. In the DePaul game, the Huskies hung 91 on the Blue Demons and were winning by 36 going into the 4th period. Against the Irish, the 11 points was scored in the 2nd period and UConn won with 72 points.

Defensively, UConn has help opponents under 15 points, in a period, 51 times. That includes Notre Dame twice, Texas twice, Baylor twice and Maryland once. This goes a long way in explaining why UConn's defense only allows an average of only 54.7 points per game, while scoring 86.1 per game themselves. In the game on Sunday, see how many times Tulsa can reach the 15 point goal. In the meantime, Stanford should be ashamed they only scored 6 points against a mediocre team.

Go Huskies..!
