Did any of you hear about the auditions to sing the National Anthem at the Hartford Yard Dog stadium this season? I know they had some highlights on the local NBC station and on a few Facebook pages for the Yard Goats and NBC new.
Well, your one and only DoggyDaddy auditioned for this once in a lifetime honor. This is definitely on my bucket list. You don't find out until the season starts so wish me luck!
Here is the Courant article on the auditions. Check out the first singer in the video!!!

From Carl Adamec's blog we get an update about Kia Nurse and when we can expect her to play next. Leave it to Geno to make it hysterical!
"According to our medical staff, Wednesday she should be getting back into some kind of basketball stuff," he said. "How much? I don't know. Where will she be by Saturday when we play our first (AAC tournament) game? I don't know. She told me she's playing. I said, 'I heard you're playing. I'm penciling you in for the second round of the NCAA tournament.' It didn't go over too well. I think I got a hockey puck (thrown) at my head or something. She said she's playing Saturday. What do I know?"
Gotta love that guy!!
Reading between the punch lines, I do believe she will be playing Saturday if her workouts go ok starting Wednesday.

Eighteen Top 25 teams in action and two more upsets Sunday. Only one of consequence.
Penn State will knock No. 25 Michigan State out of the top 25 with a 76-75 win. It will give a chance to the winner of the other upset to get back into the top 25 again.
Tennessee slapped around No. 3 Mississippi State 82-64 in a game that the Bulldogs were never in and a game that Tennessee showed some really nice basketball. Jamie Nared had a career high 30 points hitting 2-3 three pointers and getting to the FT line 13 times hitting 12 of them. Really impressive game. And DDD looked great in this game. Under control in spite of 4 turnovers. Just a good game for the Lady Vols. Until they lose to a ranked team. It's a really strange team.
That being said, Mississippi State has been over-ranked all season long. With one of the weakest schedules of any top team, they have now lost two consecutive games to middle of the pack SEC teams in Kentucky and Tennessee.

By David in Naples!!!!!
As a freshman, Saniya Chong started 4 games and played in 39. She scored 183 points that season and had 60 assists. The team went 40-0 that year and Saniya was the heir apparent to Bria Hartley at guard. Things didn't quite work out that way, but three years later, Saniya is still playing hard and well. She has started 25 games this season and is averaging 30 minutes per contest. Here are some career totals for Chong to illustrate what four years of effort can bring about.
Career record = 144-1
Points scored = 730
Assists = 273
Three point baskets = 108
Steals = 107
Rebounds = 253
This season, Saniya is on her way to her way to career bests in points, assists and made threes. She has settled into her role as a calming leader who makes everyone else around them better. Even Geno has commented on Saniya's evolution into a quiet team leader who can deliver when needed. This year's team and results would be very different without Saniya.
Go Huskies..!!
