I did get to watch the FSU opener Friday against Jacksonville State where they won 73-62. It was not an impressive effort for the Seminoles. They played without starting point guard Leticia Romero, who is dealing with some leg issues. Word is she is out for Monday's game against UConn, but I think that remains to be seen. She is one tough cookie.More to come in my FSU/UConn pregame analysis. I'm almost done!!!

No. 1 Notre Dame destroyed Central Michigan 107-47 behind their two super sophs, Arike Ogunbowale and Marina Mabrey. Ogunbowale scored 30 points on 12-13 shooting hitting all 5 of her three point shots. Mabrey scored 17 points adding 5 assists. Freshman Erin Boley added 8 points, hitting her last two threes after going 0-3 to start her career.
No. 2 Baylor hammered Houston Baptist 118-43. Kalani Brown is going to be a handful this year. She scored 24 points in only 14 minutes. She was 8-10 from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line. She added 9 rebounds and a block. Baylor had six players in double figures.

While the majority of UConn fans are celebrating the signing of Megan Walker, Fun with Numbers is focused on the wonderful play of Molly Bent. Despite the fact that the two recent games were exhibitions, Molly's stats are impressive. Consider:
1. Bent was twice the first player off the bench and played 43 minutes total.
2. Her shooting has been a bit cold, but she has not hesitated to hoist up 7 shots, making 2.
3. Molly has 1 turnover vs 7 assists..!!
4. By far, the biggest surprise would be the 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Girl has some hops...!!
5. Throw in 3 steals and only 3 personal fouls.
Molly apparently gets Geno's system, and Geno seems to like the effort and results. Harder competition is ahead, let's see if Molly sees regular season game time in the first half.
Go Huskies..!!
