I watched some of the Notre Dame/Wake Forest game and I was very impressed with Dearica Hamby of Wake Forest. She had 23 points 10 rebounds against the Irish. A 6'4" Center/Forward, she has a really nice game. A solid midrange shot, nice moves to the basket for someone her size and a great attitude. I believe she will go in the first round of the draft this year.

Look for her name on draft day!!

DePaul got Villanova'd Sunday. The high scoring Blue Demons, tied for UConn at 90 points per game to lead the NCAA were held to 49 points on 30% shooting by Harry Perretta's visit to the dentist offense. Yes, offense. UConn is now alone at the top in scoring offense.

I watched the South Carolina/Ole Miss game today. I'm getting a good feel for this South Carolina team and I'm sure that Geno will as well. Saturday, the Gamecocks had a tough time with a mediocre Ole Miss team. The Rebels were 14-7 coming into this game and on a three game losing streak. Earlier this season they lost to Baylor by 42 and to unranked LSU in their last outing by 29 points. As UConn did today against a game Temple team, South Carolina struggled early.

As Ole Miss pulled out to a 19-10 lead with 9 minutes left in the half. SC was able to tie the score at 29 with a minute left before Cuevas put on a one women show  scoring the last 6 points of the half giving South Carolina a seven point lead.

Ole Miss closed to three points early in the half, but South Carolina methodically pulled away, winning by 18 points, 77-59.

So, a few takeaways. Cuevas is a lot of fun to watch. She is maybe as quick as Jefferson. She does the halfback tuck like Moriah on her hard drives to the basket. She has a nice outside shot, but not consistent. But this was against the Ole Miss defense. Not UConn's. She could really struggle in Storrs against this UConn team.

The SEC announcers are hysterical. I watched A'ja Wilson drive hard to the basket two times with her strong hand and when met with the defense, she missed both shots badly. The announcers comment the first time was on how well she moves for her size and after missing the rim on the second one, the announcer exclaimed "what agility". It was really funny.

Ole Miss was called for 32 fouls. 32 FOULS!! Crazy.

More to come on South Carolina in the week building up to the big game!!!!

Ugly Game Of The Day

After several days of sub 40 scoring efforts, the NCAA women had an off night for off nights.

The worst game this Sunday was an Albany team that lost to Maine 52-44. The Great Danes scored their 44 points on 25% from the field, 0-10 on 3's , and 15 TO's. Meh....I've seen worse.

But still, an Uggy is an Uggy, so congrats fellow dog, the Albany Great Danes win the UGOTH award!!
