Next up for UConn is Oklahoma, a team with a good history that is really struggling this season. I feel bad for Sherry Coales, one of my favorite coaches.
Here is a video of Diana Taurasi highlights from March 2002 in the championship game against Oklahoma.
I'll look for more fun videos having to do with Oklahoma over the next few days.

I've examined the schedules of highly ranked Maryland and Baylor, both undefeated and both playing way too many cupcakes.
Today, Mississippi State is in my crosshairs. Now, I really like Coach Vic but seriously, his cupcakes have extra frosting with sprinkles!
Again, MSU has played a few decent teams including two ranked teams in their last two outings in No. 10 Texas and No. 18 Marquette winning both. But their first seven games would put someone in sugar shock.
Southeast Missouri State 3-5 RPI 202
Virginia 4-6 RPI 150
Lamar 2-4 RPI 34 (9th rated SOS is why RPI is this high)
Coppin State 0-8 RPI 235

Furman 5-4 RPI 179
Jackson State 1-5 RPI 325
Little Rock 2-6 RPI 167
Pretty bad, huh. And the margin of victory was 35, 28, 51, 72, 65, 67 and 35.
They take on Southern Miss next. They are 5-3 with an RPI of 266.
After that they play at No. 7 Oregon and take on Washington, who is a decent team with a 58 RPI.
Well, don't get too excited. They finish their OOC schedule with a game against the Ragin' Cajun's from Louisiana. They are 2-6 with an RPI of 334.
Come on Vic. You can do better.

So, I've gone over Maryland, Baylor and Mississippi State and their weak OOC schedules. How do their OOC SOS compare?
Baylor has a 100 SOS
Mississippi has a 157 SOS
And Maryland has a horrific 240 SOS. Yes, 239 other teams have tougher schedules than Maryland. Let that sink in.
If you are wondering where UConn sits, they have the 7th toughest schedule. Notre Dame is No. 1.

Breanna Stewart was just named USA Women's Basketball Player of the Year. No surprise, but Stewie is sure on a roll with awards and championships..!! So I went back to look at her UConn stats to see how impressive they were. Considering all the great Huskies that played for Geno, her #'s are indeed something.
1. Points - Stewie is 2nd all-time at UConn with 2,676 points. Only Maya at 3,036 scored more while in Storrs. Interestingly, Stewie played 4,256 minutes for UConn. Given that she appeared in 152 games, that only comes out to 28 minutes per game. All those blow out wins reduced her playing time, and probably cost her a couple of hundred points. (Maya played 427 more minutes and averaged over 30 per game.)
2. Rebounds - Stewart is 4th all-time in rebounds with 1,179. Tina (1,367), Maya (1,276) and Rebecca Lobo (1,268) are ahead of her. Lobo's numbers are impressive given she played in only 126 UConn games.
3. Blocked shots - Nobody blocked more shots at UConn than Stewie. Her 414 blocks come to 2.72 blocks every game. How many shots were never taken or altered with Breanna in the lane? Probably a couple hundred more..!
4. Three point shots - Stewie was a great outside shot and made 152 threes in her career. That's 1 per game..!! Her career shooting % was 36% from three. Overall, Stewie made 53% of all her shots. (Maya made 52.5%.)
5. Assists - For someone who scored a lot, Stewie sure passed the ball frequently. Her 426 assists puts her in the top 30 all-time at UConn. With 257 career turnovers, her ratio is 1.66 on assists to T.O.
The argument over who was the greatest player ever at UConn is not resolvable. Everyone has their favorite. But, Stewie's 4 National Championships certainly puts her in the top three.
Go Huskies..!!
