GO UCONN!!!!!

**************************************************

A typical day in putting together a blog

I thought I would share with you how this blog happens!!

The daily blog really gets put together in sections.

I initially copy the previous blog into a new blog entry. Then I delete all the content and leave all the headings, permanent links, etc. Next I look up what top 25 games are being played and put a place holder in that section so I can add the score and a link after the game is over.

I look at my messages and pray that David and/or Phil sent me something. If so, I copy and paste it into the blog. Later in the day I add the links in the UConn Link section, searching in google under different search criteria to find any UConn related material. I go to my source for any tweets, links, and information on incoming recruits or players of interest and link them.

The first section is usually just about UConn and either the prior game or upcoming game or both. These are just random thoughts plus stats I look up.  You will see a Creighton write up in this blog as the game is the next day.

The "Straight From The Dog" section are just my thoughts about other teams and players that have great performances.

There is more to it, and I would have to say I spend minimum 3-4 hours on a single blog. My wife says it's more...lol. It's a labor of love for sure. You know how I love stats. Well, I started this blog in October 2014. I write a blog almost every day during the 6 months season. I have written a total of 1489 different entries. That's approximately 42 months. That's 35 entries per month. I did write about the WNBA one summer and there are a few preseason and postseason entries so that is why it's more than one per day average. 1489 entries times 4 hours per entry is around 6,000 hours that I have spent on Doggy's Doghouse. I'm exhausted!

However.........

I'm going to add an option for any comtributions for my time. I'm not looking to get rich here. It's more that I feel my time is worth something. And maybe I can earn some golf money!!!

So starting with this blog and going forward, I'm going to have a quick section on making a donation to my VENMO account. I'm not requiring the donation to read the blog. It's totally voluntary. And I'm not recommending how much to donate or how often.

Thanks to all my loyal readers!!!

If you don't have Venmo, you can sign up here
or add the app to your iPhone or iPad.

CREIGHTON | UCONN LEADS 4-0
H: 3-0 | A: 1-0 | N: 0-0
11/23/14 #1 UConn 96, Creighton 60 Storrs, Conn.
12/17/20 #3 UConn 80, Creighton 47 Storrs, Conn.
02/25/21 #1 UConn 81, Creighton 49 Omaha, Neb.
01/09/22 #9 UConn 63, Creighton 55 Storrs, Conn.

1/9 game highlights

Creighton is 5-1 since playing UConn, only losing to Villanova 74-64. The five other games were against the bottome of the Big East. However, the St. John's game was a close one with Creighton pulling out an 86-80 win.  The Bluejays are not a big team with only two players over 6' tall, yet they outrebound many of their opponents. They outrebounded UConn in their first matchup. But their strength is their pressure defense and really good three point shooting. UConn did a great job defending the three points in the first game but did not handle the pressure defense that the Bluejays put out there in the fourth quarter allowing Creighton to stay close. Similar to DePaul, it's not just one or two players that can hit the three pointers, it's 6 or 7 that will put em up from long range. It will be a tough match for the Huskies.

Creighton spreads around the minutes and the points pretty evenly between their players. They have 8 players who play double digit minutes and two others that play 9.4 and 8.9 MPG. And it's not just in blowouts. Like their players say, "Depth is our strength". They will throw wave after wave of players at UConn, trying to wear out a team that hasn't played in three weeks. It's a great strategy. Morgan Maley and Lauren Jenson will be taking 3-4 three pointers each in this game. Or more. Maley put up 14 in the first contest making 4 of them.

The Bluejays also do a great job taking care of the ball. But UConn did a good job turning them over 16 in the first game.

Creighton did a darn good job on the road against the Huskies. They are a solid and mentally tough team. UConn will have their hands full. They could be back to a 7 player rotation with Juhasz possibly out. But the Huskies are still the better team. I think they play an inspired game after that miserable game against Providence.

UConn by 10+.

Straight from the Dog

It looked like it could be an interesting night in the Top 25.

No. 4 North Carolina State visiting No. 20 Notre Dame and after three quarters, The Irish were up 52-43. The Wolfpack could never finish the comeback, missing two game tying three pointers in the last 10 seconds to lose 69-66.

No. 5 Louisville was visiting Miami and were down 49-46 after three quarters. in an amaazing coincidence, Louisville was able to pull off the comeback winning by the same score of 69-66. Miami had their chances but could not hold on.

A big game in the ACC standings with NCST getting their first loss and Louisville holding on to move to 1/2 game behind the Wolfpack for the league lead.

These two games are one more example of the parity in WCBB. So many upsets or near upsets.

No. 12 Georgia Tech won again beating up on Duke 59-46 to get within one game of NC State. So that's two teams that beat UConn that won tonight.

Let's make it a third as No. 19 Oregon ran away from Arizona State 72-58.

A good night for UConn's RPI is they even look at that anymore.

This just shows how pointless the rankings are.

UConn lost to two unranked teams, Georgia Tech and Oregon. Since those losses, both teams are in the Top 25. Not only in the Top 25 but the Yellow Jackets are now 12th and the Ducks are now 19th. And both are still rising. So while that streak of not losing to ranked teams might have been true at the time, the two teams they lost to were really clearly really good teams and both losses were on their home courts.

UConn has now lost to No. 1, No. 4, No. 12 and No. 19. Not exactly Auburn.

Tennessee fans were so excited about their win over Arkansas in overtime. Far be it from me to burst their bubble.....ehhhh...who am I kidding. I live to burst their bubbles...lol.

They almost lost to another unranked team. I won't belittle Arkansas too much since UConn played and beat them in their opening game. But still, almost back to back losses against unranked teams. They were fortunate to get by the Razorbacks.

Tennessee shot only 39% from the field, 30% on threes and 16 turnovers. If they didn't hit 75% on free throws, more than their season average of 63.8% they lose this game.

They play like this against Florida on Thursday and they could lost that game on the Gators' home court.

More from the Orange Idiots.

"We've seen a ref thrown out a league who admitted to fixing games haven't we? It was just reported a coached called the referee office to get a sense of how his team can not foul so much? Yet his team played very similar the first time we played. UConn remaining in the Top 10 shows how often Geno is catered to but I expect you to continue your rhetoric. I'll be a conspiracy theorist if that's what you want to call me."

Why shouldn't they be in the top 10?

The refs, the press, who else is in on it? All the other coaches who have them in the Top 10 in the Coaches Poll? The players parents that let them go to UConn, the players themselves who go to such a horrible place with a horrible person as a coach?

How about the NCAA committee who has them at 11? 11 is ok with yout?

How about Massey? They have them 9th. Did they rig the computer?

"Oregon beat Uconn right but yet they are ranked 19th, GT also beat UConn and they are ranked 12th, Neither school even with injuries and their own covid issues took a month off because they didn't have the right amount of players to play and then cancel a game against a team he knew would possibly be a loss. In any year where UConn is stacked is Geno cancelling the SC game or is he playing it looking to secure the Top seed in the tournament?"

Did this poster really just say UConn cancelled the South Carolina game?

So many made up things in his post.

It wasn't a month. Last game played was 12/19/21. Next game played was 1/9/22. Three weeks.

The first of the three games against Marquette was postponed by the Golden Eagles. They had the Covid issues.

The other two, Georgetown and Villanova, were postponed because of Covid issues in the UConn program. I believe injuries also put UConn under the allowable number of players available.

There have literaly been hundreds of games postponed or cancelled due to Covid but UConn is lying about it so they don't lose a game?

I know, I know I should just ignore these idiots. But then, it gives me something fun to write about!!!

By David in Naples

Virtually every UConn fan is now fully engaged in the new national craze of guessing what's wrong with the Huskies. Whatever the reason, former fans now predict UConn is not going to win the National Championship, not going to make another Final Four, going lose in the Elite 8 and/or should not even be ranked as a Top 25 team. Wow..!  The insight some of these "fans" have into events that will happen in April is incredible. Yes, the Final Four is scheduled for April 1-3. That is 2 months away. But, these geniuses know exactly what will happen in the future...

Every fan can have an opinion, even if it is actually a "wild a$$ guess." Let's start with the "not in the Top 25" debate. Seriously, there are 25 teams that are better than UConn right now? Notre Dame is 16-4 and ranked #20. They are better than UConn? The Huskies won the head to head match 73-54. But ND is still better? Maryland at #17 has 6 losses. But they are better than UConn? Where will these teams be in a month and a half when the Tournament starts? Nobody knows...!!

Here is what is wrong with the Huskies. It is very simple. Paige is hurt. Every player on the Huskies has been impacted by her injury. Last season, she was the leading scorer with 581 points. That's 20 points per game. SHe led the team in assists by 40 over the 2nd place player (168-128). She made 64 three point baskets. She led the team in steals with 66. She made 87% of her free throws (73-84). Replacing all that production has not been easy or terribly successful. How hard is that to see?

April 1st is two months away. Will Paige be ready to play effectively? Nobody knows that answer today. We will see in a month or 6 weeks, or two months. But, feel free to offer an opinion and go on record with your "wild a$$ guess" about the future.

Go Huskies..!!
