Ok, how many of you UConn fans went on social media and said bad things about them after the first quarter and the first 7 minutes of the second quarter? Come on, admit it. I saw you out there....lol.

Well, I don't blame you for being upset. Even sick to your stomach. Geno much have had a premonition before the game because he stayed in the locker room ill.

They were just awful. Good on defense for the most part but the offense was just off. They were down 32-20, but with 3 minutes left in the half,  UConn figured something out. Behind 6 points from Nelson-Ododa (12 points in the half) UConn closed the third quarter on a 10-0 run to close to 32-30. The big MO was on UConn's side.

We all know how Geno (or Chris in this case) like to get off quick on the second half and that is what happened. They started with an 8-0 run making it in total an 18-0 run after being down 12 points to take a 38-32 lead. From that point to the end of the game, UConn just ground the Bluejays into the court, pushing the lead forward over and over again.

The Huskies outscored Creighton 46-24 in the second half for the 76-56 win. WOW!!!

Olivia Nelson-Ododa once against showed the naysayers that she is playing the best basketball of her great career at UConn. She had 17 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists in 38 minutes.

UConn had 5 players in double digits with ONO (17), Williams (17), Ducharme (13), Westbrook (10) and Fudd (10).

We can't leave off Muhl who played 38 minutes and had 5 assists and a big three pointer in the second half. Her big number was ZERO. Zero turnovers in all those minutes. Fantastic.

The team had some great stats. They shot 50% from the field, 41.2% on threes, 11-11 from the foul line and 22 assists. They outrebounded Creighton 38-26. That is some old time UConn statistics.

I predicted a 10+ point lead but I didn't expec tthe + to be 20 points. The team really bounced back from the Providence game and the first 17 minutes in this game. It was great to see.

And all of you "fans" that posted "disgusting" about the team when they struggled. Try cheering them on instead of tearing them down. You'll feel better.

On the injury front, Paige looked more mobile on the sidelines. That's good news. And Geno said before he was sick that Dorka Juhasz is shooting for Sunday against Tennessee. She won't play against Butler Friday night.

Undefeated! Yes, Chris Dailey has not lost a game while replacing Geno. 13-0 in her 37 years at UConn.

That is just an amazing statistic. You listen to her in her quick post game interview, and you know a big reason why UConn is the program they are.

Years ago, I was able to play in the MACCA fundraiser golf outing and Chris was the guest host. The players would ride around in cart handing out beverages and snacks to the players. It was so long ago that Diana Taurasi was one of them. She was so funnny back then! Anyway, Chris is such a nice person. She would see me several times at the Travelers pro-am and always said hello.

There has been a funny back and forth on Volnation between a real live UConn/Geno hater and a "UConn" fan.

The Tennessee fan is insisting that UConn cancelled all of the games, DePaul, Marquette, Georgetown and even South Carolina. The "UConn" fan is trying his best to explain the facts. Here is a little bit of the confrontation. It's really an unfair battle. Only one of them has a brain.

This is in regards to him initially saying Geno cancelled the South Carolina game.

"Again does Geno agree to the cancellation if he has a team he can win with?

"Of course he would agree to the cancellation. A fellow coach called and asked. Geno and Dawn have no issues with each other. And it allowed UConn to make up that DePaul game. Geno has never been afraid to play another team. More made up stuff by you."

And this back and forth was no contest. So many mistatements and bad english. Not that I'm perfect but this "UConn" fan's comeback was great.

"Facts but they'll never admit to it, the Marquette game in December may have also been a loss especially after having loss to Louisville and possibly Depaul. A 3 game skid would've likely taken them out of the Top 25 and whether the UConn fans want to admit it or not, I feel it played a role in his Covid cancellations/postponements. You can say you don't have the numbers but is that true or is it that you don't trust having to rely on the likes of DeBerry and Paith and at the time of postponements I believe Mir hadn't announce her decision to transfer but I could be wrong on that front!"

"I'll admit that you feel it played a role in cancelling. Geno was afraid of losing so he faked the Covid testing. Tin Foil Hat thinking.

The Marquette game was postponed because of Covid issues in the Marquette program. I've told you that a few times. Is that too complicated to understand? Same with DePaul but it was UConn with Covid. And it's the Big East that postpones the games. Same with Villanova, UConn with Covid.

Your statement "Possibly losing" is a fact. It was possible. It's always possible that another team can beat UConn. However short handed, as Tennessee fans like to say, they are still running out there top 5 players.

UConn is 12-0 against Marquette.
UConn is 20-1 against DePaul with their one loss in 1983
UConn has won their last 12 against Villanova and haven't lost until 2004.

Possibly losses to any of those three teams? Sure. Probable? No.

Mir announced on 12/27. Before any of those games.

Those games were postponed due to Covid. You need 7 players available in the Big East to play.

"Six of the seven conferences made their minimum threshold seven players and one coach, while the Big 12 made its threshold six players and one coach. "

For these games they only had a 12 player roster with the two transfers.

UConn had 4 players out with injury. Bueckers, Griffin, Fudd and Muhl.

There were either 3 or 4 players that had to isolate with Covid.

That leaves only 4-5 players available to play.

THOSE are the facts. You should
read this post a few times so you can understand what I am saying."

Yeah, that was a long answer but I would say that poster deserves this.

It is entirely possible that 3 point shooting will be the key to how far UConn goes in the NCAA tournament this season. With Paige injured, the Huskies' long range accuracy has suffered. This year the team has made 103 of 342 shots from outside the arc. That is 30.1%.

The top 3 point shots so far are:
1. Christyn - 19-56 or 33.9%
2. Evina - 21-69 or 30.4%
3. Azzi - 12-29 or 41.4%

The bottom 3 point shots are:
1. Caroline - 24-82 or 29.3%
2. Nika - 9-36 or 25%
3. Dorka - 6-24 or 25%

Paige was 9-29 or 31% before she was injured.

Last season, UConn made 35.6% of their 3 point shots (201-565). The prior two seasons to 2020-21 they made 39.9% and 36.4%. Clearly, this year's accuracy rate is dramatically lower. Hopefully, Paige will return and return to last season's form. THe big key will be Azzi and Caroline. Both are capable of 40% accuracy from 3 pt range. Those 3 players will be the key to any run for the 12th NC.

Go Huskies..!!
