Straight from the Dog
UConn dropped four spots to No. 15 after losing to No. 1 South Carolina. A little harsh in my opinion.
UConn remained No. 4 in the NET ratings and the same by Massey.
They are still looking good for a 2 seed, especially of they win out in the Big East. Only Creighton should be a challenge.
UConn dropped more than any other ranked team after losing to No. 1 South Carolina. I don't get it.

Who beat you?
Not terribly surprising but a drop too far. UConn now has five losses. Every one of the losses is by double-digit margins which hurts.
But not a single loss is to an unranked team. That’s obviously not the only metric, but it is one metric the selection committee views. There are 14 teams ranked ahead of UConn. How many others can say they’ve not lost to an unranked team?
1. South Carolina no losses to unranked teams
2. Ohio State Lost to unranked Michigan
3. Stanford Lost to unranked Gonzaga
4. Iowa Lost to unranked Nebraska
5. Texas Lost to unranked Oklahoma
6. NC State Lost to unranked Miami
7. Kansas State Lost to unranked Oklahoma
8. Colorado no losses to unranked teams
9. UCLA Lost to unranked Washington State
10. USC no losses to unranked teams
11. Oregon State Lost to unranked Duke
12. Virginia Tech Lost to unranked Duke
13. LSU Lost to unranked Auburn
14. Indiana no losses to unranked teams
Each of the four teams in bold can make that claim, while 11 of the teams ranked ahead of UConn have lost to at least one unranked team.
UConn has played the strongest scheduled for most of the season. That ranking dropped to number two after playing a few Big East teams, but the game against South Carolina moved them back into first place. It won’t last, but at the moment, UConn has played the toughest schedule in the country while losing only to ranked teams. No one else can say that. I’m not arguing that should be number one, and despite having an NET of four, and a Massey ranking of four, I think they should be in the next group of four somewhere. The AP voters may not know what they’re doing but let’s hope the selection committee does when it comes time for seeding.
Milestone watch
Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.
South Carolina 90, UConn 50.
Net positives/minutes played: Aaliyah 24/37, Paige 14/36, KK 8/38, Nika 2/34, Ashlynn 1/34, Qadence -2/7, Ice -3/14.
South Carolina just deeper and better. Aaliyah played well, got beat up as usual. Liked that Ashlynn kept shooting. KK will be alright.
The two subs just not ready for prime time. With everyone healthy, they might have been 11 and 12 on the depth chart. Win the big East regular season and tournament. Win two NCAA games at Storrs.
