Auriemma also says (officially but not officially/ on accident) that Aubrey Griffin plans on returning next season.

Paige Bueckers shrugged and smirked when asked if she’ll announce her future plans tomorrow night or wait until the end of the season:

“We’ll see”
From Dan Connolly's Newsletter
“Dorka (Juhász) did two (senior nights) and Aubrey’s coming back next year, and she's doing it,” [Auriemma] said. “Aubrey’s coming back, where’s she gonna go?…I could be wrong. I could 100% wrong.”
Griffin won’t get a medical redshirt after tearing her ACL on Jan. 3 at Creighton but she still has a year of eligibility remaining. In addition to Griffin’s standard four years, she received a bonus year due to a Covid as well as a medical redshirt for the 2021-22 campaign that she missed. She arrived in Storrs as a freshman in 2019.
Per Hearst’s Carl Adamec, Griffin would be the first player to spend six seasons with the Huskies under Auriemma.
The news isn’t all that surprising. Shortly after Griffin tore her ACL, Auriemma relayed that she had already thought about returning.
“Aubrey asked me (if she had eligibility left) after the fact when things had settled down a little bit,” he said back in January. “Now I don’t know whether she intends to (use it). That’s a decision down the road.”

"Meanwhile, Paige Bueckers has hinted that she’ll be back next year....
Aaliyah Edwards has also declined to answer whether she’ll declare for the draft or return while Nika Mühl hasn’t been asked yet."

Wow. Just Wow. Only Caitlin Clark could put on a performance like this. Not only did she break the all time career scoring record, she did it with a three pointer from the Logo on the court.
And not only that she set a career high with 49 points. She was 16-31 from the field and 9-18 on threes. And perfect from the foul line going 8-8. Amazing. And it's not like she didn't contribute in other ways. She also had 13 assists.
She is a unique performer for sure and the closest player on the women's side to Pete Maravich.
She is going to be a great pro! And if UConn can't win it all, I'm rooting for Iowa. She deserves a championship.

Now, THIS is the Ice Brady I saw in high school. Finishing with either hand. Nice post moves. Solid rebounder. I really hope the light went off for Ice. She could be a big factor for the Huskies!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it wasn't a 50 point loss but it was more like Lucy pulling the ball back as Charlie Brown tried to kick it.
Tennessee played a close game with No. 1 South Carolina, actually tied going into the fourth quarter but then the Gamecocks pulled the ball away and won the game by double digits 66-55. It was a horrible shooting game for both teams, but it was the big girl, Kamilla Cardosa, that ruled the day with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
South Carolina shot 40% from the field, 22.2% on threes, 8-16 from the foul lines. Ugly.
Tennessee shot 32.3% from the field, 11.8% (2-17) on threes. They did well when unguarded going 11-14 from the foul line. Truely UGGY!!!
Tennessee fans have been talking up Jewel Spear and she was just horrific in this game.
0-8 from the field, 0-4 on threes, no free throws, and scoreless. Yes, scoreless.
These two teams end their regular season playing each other in South Carolina. I'm sure there will be 18,000 loud Gamecock fans!! And maybe that game will be the 50 point margin I'm looking for!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another team I'm happy to see lose lost big at home Thursday night. No. 16 Notre Dame lost to No. 5 North Carolina State 59-43 in another poor shooting game.
In a possible UGGY game effort, the Fighting Irish went down with a whimper scoring only 43 points. They shot 26.9% from the field, 3-18 on threes, 4-8 on free throws, 15 turnovers and only 5 assists.
The main culprits were super freshman Hannah Hidalgo, who was 4-19 from the field and 0-2 on threes. Maddy Westbeld was 6-19 from the field and Sonia Citron was 6-14. The rest of the team was 2-15 from the field. Just an awful game for Notre Dame. Let's see if they drop at least 4 spots on the poll on Monday like UConn did when losing to No. 1 South Carolina. Somehow I don't think they will.

Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.
UConn 134, Xavier 7.
Net positives/minutes played: Paige 28/26, Ice 27/24, Aaliyah 21/22, Nika 20/23, KK 15/30, Qadence 13/23, Ashlynn 13/32, Ines -1/13, Amari -3/7.
Hopefully Ice builds on this! You can see, unfortunately, why Geno has said there will only be 7 contributors.
Since doggy daddy says Kara reads his blog, here’s a story. I grew up at the Palestra and saved many programs going back to 1958. Some time before 2013, I brought one with a photo of Willie (or Willi) Wolters of Boston College on the cover to a game and gave it to Kara. I hope she, her children and her father got a kick out of that!
In reading a bit, I discovered that Kara’s father, who became an attorney, was born in Germany in 1944 and came to the USA in 1955. Not unlike Geno from Italy. Wonder if they bonded over that?
