Straight from the Dog

A shout out to the UConn men's basketball team. They just destroyed No. 5 Marquette 81-53. It was tied 18-18 before the Huskies just tightened the defense and went on a 13-0 run. They were just terrific. 

The crowd was amazing. So loud my wall TV almost fell from vibrating!

They really could win another championship this year. I'm pretty sure they will be the favorites to win it all.

Local product 7'2" Donovan Clingan had 17 points and 10 rebounds, a few blocks and several intimidations. They play some really good basketball. Running the weave to perfection and then finding cutters to the hoop. Dan Hurley is maybe the best men's coach in the country.

It's been a while since I awarded an UGGY but this score caught my eye. No. 25 Princeton beat Yale 70-25. Now, I don't want to insult the Yalies. But scoring 25 points? Well, those Bulldogs just bite the big one.

So, how did they get to that low point? They scored 8,7,6 and 4 points in each quarter. Yes, they got worse as the game went on.

They were 9-35 from the field for 25.7%. They were 1-7 on threes for 14.3%. They were 
6-11 on FTs. And they had 27 turnovers.

Oh yeah, a well deserved UGGY!! Congrats!.

Milestone watch

• Aaliyah Edwards reached 1684 career points with her 26 points in the Georgetown game. She passed countrymate Kia Nurse and Shea Ralph to move into sole possession of 19th place. She needs 15 points to tie Ann Strother.

• Aaliyah Edwards now has 930 rebounds with 16 against Georgetown. She passed Kerry Bascom and Kara Wolters to move into sole possession of 10th place. She needs seven more to catch Peggy Walsh.

• Nika Mühl had 604 assists after her 7 assists in the Georgetown game. She passed Crystal Dangerfield, is in 5th place and needs 28 more to tie Renee Montgomery.

Best postgame ever!!! Although a source in the know told me Nika won’t be back. Geno clearly right about only seven.
