Yep.....still in Florida!!! Nice day. Had a wonderful day with my wonderful wife. Wonderful.

My oldest granddaughter Noa had one of her cheerleading completion this weekend. She was outstanding and her team was terrific too. They won the Silver Medal in their group. So proud!!!!

If you haven't seen it, here is my UConn/SMU Post Game Report.

******************************************************************************

I watched a lot of the South Carolina/LSU game. Yes, the same LSU team that UConn beat 76-53.

The Gamecocks were able to handle the absence of All-American A'ja Wilson in beating the Tigers
84-61. Same 23 point margin as the UConn game.

Alaina Coates led SC with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Impressive stats for sure. Unless you look at who played for LSU the majority of the game. Their only player that gets minutes that is over 5'11" is
6'2" sophomore Aylana Mitchell and she only saw 12 minutes of action. Coates is tough enough when you have relatively equal size but LSU has no one to cover her. That being said, Coates worked hard for position and made some nice shots from under the basket.

I was again disappointed with the play of Kaela Davis, who missed most of the first half with 2 bad fouls. She ended up with 8 points in 28 minutes. Since her 37 point opening night, she has had more poor performances than good. The other transfer, Alisha Gray had 21 points on 7-8 from the field, 2-2 on threes and 5-5 on free throws. Great game for her. She has been more consistent this season.

Bianca Cuevas-Moore continues to show that she has added a new maturity and improved outside shooting to her game. She was always good for a few spectacular plays and a few wild and out of control plays and plenty of misses from long range. Since league play started she seems to have changed. The wild plays are at a minimum, and her outside shooting has been excellent. She was 6-11 from the field, 2-3 on threes and 3 assists and only 2 turnovers. She is now 12-20 in league games on three pointers. That's a fat 60%.

This team WILL have an outside shot at beating UConn. The Huskies will have a tough time defending the two bigs for South Carolina but the Gamecocks will struggle to defend the quicker team in UConn. And I'll believe that Cueva-Moore can impact the game in a positive way against UConn when I actually see it.

Holy Moly, did anyone see the Florida State dismantling of what looks like a terrible Clemson team.

The Seminoles outscored the Tigers 28-4 in the first quarter. How very UConn-like of them.

This is a really good FSU team. I still think a Top 5 team.

Many UConn fans know the Huskies have now won 91 straight games. Only four players in college basketball can say they been part of a team that accomplished that feat. UConn seniors Saniya Chong and Tierney Lawlor & UConn juniors Kia Nurse and Gabby Williams. Here are more stats about the 91 game streak and the players that made it... :D

1. Saniya and TLAW have a combined 132-1 record while at UConn. They went 40-0, 38-1, 38-0 and now sit 16-0.
2. The UConn loss at Stanford ended a 47 game winning streak, so the Huskies are 138-1 in their last 139 games.
3. Kia Nurse is the 3rd leading scorer in the 91 game streak with 945 points. (Stewie is #1 with 1,364 points in the 74 games she played.)
4. Gabby and Katie Lou are 5th and 6th on that streak scoring list with 855 and 737 points respectively.
5. Gabby is 2nd in rebounding with 562, behind Stewie at 610.  ;)
6. Kia is 2nd in assists during the streak with 275 assists behind MoJeff with 382.
7. Napheesa Collier is 2nd in blocked shots with 75 in just 54 games. Guess who is #1 with 228... 8-)

Tuesday, the streak may reach 92 games and Sunday, 93 games. Whatever the length of this streak ends up being, odds are UConn will set a mark that will never be broken. Unless UConn breaks it.. :o

Go Huskies..!!
