What a wonderful day in Florida. I was at the beach for several hours with my wife and granddaughters, 8 year old Mya and 10 year old Noa. Sunny and 80 degrees!!

Here is my UConn/East Carolina Post Game Report.
Working on the UConn/South Florida Pre Game Report.

* No. 7 Notre Dame handled Wake Forest with a big first half, coasting in the second half for a 92-72 victory. Arkie Ogunbowale was terrific in this game with 22 points on 8-11 shooting hitting 4-5 three pointers. Marina Mabrey was equally effective from long range going 4-6 on threes. When ND is shooting like this, they are really tough to beat. But they haven't been "on" as often as Muffett would like. The Irish are notoriously streaky this year.
* No. 5 South Carolina had an easy time with formerly ranked Auburn Tigers 73-47 behind 21 points from Kaela Davis. Davis put up 18 shots to get to that number, something she did often at Georgia Tech. The problem with that is that it limits the shots of South Carolina's most efficient shooters, A'ja Wilson and Alana Coates who took 7 and 2 shots respectively. The much maligned Bianca Cuevas-Moore was on fire this game, going 5-6 on three points and scoring 19 points. Have you ever watched the show Chopped on the Food Network? One criticism that chefs get is that their plate is not cohesive. It's like 4 different things on one plate that really don't go together. That is how I feel about South Carolina at this point of the season. A ton of talent, but it just doesn't seem to go together. That could change and make them a really tough out in the NCAA's.
* In a big surprise, former Stanford point guard Lili Thompson has decided to complete her basketball eligibility at Notre Dame. Here is the link. She will slide right into the spot vacated by All-American point guard Lindsay Allen. Great pickup for Muffett. This young lady can really play.
* I guess you can't beat all the ranked teams you play unless you are UConn. North Carolina State lost to 14th ranked Miami Thursday night after beating No. 2 (at the time) Notre Dame and No. 6 Florida State in their two previous games. They got out to a quick start leading 23-13 after one quarter. But Miami was able to come back and in a close finish, pulled it out at the end.

In fourteen games so far this season, UConn has scored 1,141 points or 81.5 points per contest. The scoring by individual players can best be described as consistent and balanced. Katie Lou Samuelson has reached double digits in every game and averages 20.1 points per game. Napheesa Collier is just behind KLS, scoring 19.4 pts per game and has reached double figures 13 times, in 14 tries. The one time she missed, Pheesa scored 8 points against LSU. Together, those two stars have scored 553 points this season.
However, both Kia Nurse and Gabby Williams are also averaging double digits this year, at 13.6 and 11.5 points per contest. Kia has be very consistent, scoring double digits in points 10 times. Gabby is right behind at 9 double digit games. Together, Nurse and Williams have scored 352 points this year. Added together with KLS and Collier's points, the Core Four have scored 905 of the Huskies 1,141 points. That is 79.3% of the total.
Saniya Chong and Crystal Dangerfield have each scored in double figures twice. Together, they have scored 146 points or 10.4 pts per game. Since they share minutes in the same position during the game, that essentially gives UConn five players who average in double figures for scoring. That is the definition of balanced and consistent..!
Go Huskies..!!
