So proud of my daughter and Logan in Connecticut and my wife in Florida
participating in the March for Women!

Here is my UConn/Tulane pregame report.

In celebration of that women's march all over the country and even the world, this article just seemed appropriate that I was able to link a terrific article from ESPNW that was written by a former golf digest writer. He really nailed it when talking about how the UConn women's winning streak, their dominance of WCBB by winning 6 of 10 championships and 4 consecutive.
"What those whose testosterone ripples with insecurity fail to realize is that saying Sorenstam was more dominate on her tour than Woods was on his is not to say she was better than him. It merely says she conquered her competition more completely. Similarly, to celebrate the deeds of the UConn women is not to devalue UCLA and John Wooden. The accomplishments of the Huskies stand on their own."
"In all sports, the women's game and the men's game are decidedly different animals. What is the same, however, is the measuring stick for greatness, and that is simply this: How do you fare against your competition? The record screams out the unparalleled dominance of the UConn women."

Diva Diamond Deshields over her three years.
Freshman - MPG 27.9, FG% 42.6, 3PT% 27.9, FT% 77.6, RPG 5.4, APG 2.5, TOPG 3.39, Assts 92, TOs 122, PPG 18, shots taken 582, shots per game 16.2
Sophomore - MPG 26.8, FG% 39.1, 3PT% 24.8, FT% 76.5, RPG 5.2, APG 2.3, TOPG 3.2 , Assts 82, TOs 115, PPG 14.3, shots taken 499, shots per game 13.9
Junior - MPG 33.9, FG% 39.7, 3PT% 32.7, FT% 81.9, RPG 6.8, APG 3.4, TOPG 4.1 , Assts 55, TOs 66, PPG 16.6, shots taken 239, 14.9 shots per game
It's clear that this young women has not made many strides over her three years. Her shooting percentages have not improved, and only her increased minutes had impacted her rebounds and assists per game. She is still turning the ball over at the same rate, always a higher number than her assists.
So, would another season at Tennessee do anything for her in regards to her professional future? I doubt it. She will still be a high draft pick as teams do draft on potential. Maybe better coaching will bring out more of her skills? It's possible. They certainly wouldn't play her if she didn't play more of a team game. She needs a wake up call. The WNBA might be just that.

No. 2 Baylor defeated No. 24 West Virginia 79-73 in a game that was much closer than the first time they met in Morgantown where the Bears won 91-56. Funny that the blowout was on the road and the close game was home for Baylor.
It's games like this that give me confidence that UConn has a great chance to win it all.
Alexis Jones let them once again with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Nina David had a nice game with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Laura Cox, the former UConn recruit, continues her struggles with a scoreless 12 minutes. But she did manage 4 blocks.
Still.....no one in the big twelve other than Texas has a shot at beating them.

February 7th will be a tough night for Cincinnati and a tough night for me.
That is the night we fly back from the warm weather of Florida to the not so warm weather of Connecticut. Bummer!!!!
And that night is when the Bearcats play UConn. It will be a very tough night for Jamelle.
The good news is that Coach Elliott is having a great season to date. They are 14-5 for the season and 5-1 in conference play.
It's a big difference in comparison to the previous seasons.
2015-16 6-13, 2-6
2014-15 5-14, 2-6
2013-14 9-10, 2-6
2012-13 8-11, 0-6
2011-12 9-10, 0-6
I didn't compare schedules, but it really doesn't matter. Cinci seems to be improved this season. I'm happy for Jamelle. She is a sweet lady that agreed to an interview with me several years ago. I never used what we talked about (my bad) but she was so accommodating for me, a perfect stranger that just called her out of the blue.

Sunday, UConn plays Tulane at the friendly confines of Gampel Pavilion. That will be the first game at Gampel since December 1st, when the Huskies destroyed DePaul. Since then, UConn has played in South Bend, Manhattan Kansas, Lincoln Nebraska, College Park Maryland, Orlando, Dallas and Tulsa. There have also been three "home games" at the XL Center in Hartford. Fifty-two days and 11 victories later, the Huskies finally get a true home game.
It is easy to see why the Huskies like the home cooking in Storrs. In the last 100 games at Gampel, UConn is 98-2, dating back to the 2006-07 season. In the last four years, that mark is 30-0. Of course, it hasn't mattered where the Huskies played in their last 92 games. Sunday, they will try to win their 93rd game in a row and extend the longest winning streak in basketball.
After the Tulane game, it is back on the road again for the Huskies with games in Greenville, N.C., Hartford and Philadelphia. Then 3 of the next 4 games will be in Storrs, ending with the February 13th blockbuster against South Carolina.
Go Huskies..!!
