What a win. What a win. What a win. This reminded me so much of those recent losses in the Final Four to Mississippi State and to Notre Dame. It was going to come down to the wire. But this time, the story had a different ending. UConn made the plays to win!!
Paige Buecker, well, she just did what had to be done. I couldn't believe it when they were down 10 points. When DiDi Richards went out with that hamstring injury, the best player in the country took advantage of that and helped UConn go on a 19-0 run. Wow.
Sadly, the no-call on the last shot by Baylor will stick in Baylor fan's craw, but I can name a few calls that went their way allowing Baylor to get to that point. A Bueckers jumper where she was hit on the arm with no call, the dribbling violation on Westbrook where she did get her hand on top of the ball even on the high dribble. There were others. UConn was bounced around all night.
I'm sure you all watched and you don't need me giving you a play by play of the game. It was intense. it was tense. It was what makes basketball such a great sport. I actually stopped breathing a few time.
UConn has now made it to 13 consecutive Final Fours. What an amazing accomplishment. I mean, really. I don't think any team will come close to this, and the Huskies are not done with that streak, I guarantee.
I hope you all saw Geno's sideline interview after the game. This is really someone who has been touched by his players. Don't get me wrong, he has enjoyed coaching many many team. But there is a special relationship that Geno has with this team. And they really really love him.
UConn takes on Arizona and Arial McDonald in the Semi-Final game.
I like UConn's chances.

The Arizona Wildcats are in their first final four and they go against a UConn program that has made 13 consecutive final fours. But that really means nothing. Upsets happen and UConn will have to take Arizona very seriously. Their superstar Arial McDonald has been on fire in this tournament.

What an exciting game..!! Credit to Baylor, but more credit to the Huskies..!! Never say never..!! Some great, but weird stats tonight.
1. Paige with 28 points & 0 assists. 🤔
2. UConn shoots 47% from three range, only 56% from the charity stripe.
3. Ono and Aaliyah blocked more shots (8) than scored points (7).
4. Paige, Christen and Eviba scored 60 points, had only 2 assists.
5. The Huskies blocked 10 shots, got only 9 assists.
6. Lack of foul calls hurt UConn in the first half, saved the game at the end.
7. Baylor misses 40 shots, but gets 16 offensive rebounds.
8. Evina scores 11 points in the first 14 minutes. None the rest of the game.
9. The 3 guards ( PB, CW and EW) each play 40 minutes.
