Upset of the day - No. 3 Texas loses to Iowa State
Wow....what a crazy game. Texas built a big lead, going ahead 37-19 on a Brady Sanders jumper with 2:50 left in the first half. Over the rest of the half, Texas went scoreless and Iowa State hit two free throws and a three point shot by Brynn Williamson with six seconds left in the half. It was a sign of things to come in the second half.
Iowa State scored the first nine points of the second half, closing the gap to four, 37-33 with 16:16 left. Texas scored the next two baskets, opening the lead up to eight, 41-33, with 15 minutes left in the game. From that point until the 8 minute mark, Iowa State went on a 24-9 run to take a 57-50 lead. This is where the game got really interesting. Iowa State stopped scoring going 0-6 from the field and 0-5 on free throws along with two turnovers. Texas cut into the seven point lead with a couple of three's and a free throw, but missed the second FT which would have given them the lead.
Iowa State went ahead again with 19 seconds left on a layup by Seanna Johnson. Texas had several opportunities to score missing an open three pointer with five seconds left, a short jumper after a rebound with two seconds left and an open put back after one more offensive rebound at the buzzer.
A tough way to lose your first game of the season for the previously undefeated Longhorns.

Upset of the day part two- No. 16 Oklahoma State loses to TCU
TCU used a balanced scoring attack, with four starters in double figures and the fifth with 9 points to beat the 16th ranked Cowgirls.
Down six points with seven minutes left in the game, the Horn Frogs went on a 12-0 run to take their own six point lead, holding Oklahoma State scoreless the until they scored a meaningless basket with 20 seconds left.
I have to give TCU credit. In their last game TCU mounted a furious rally to overcome a 24-point second-half deficit in an 86-84 victory over Iowa State in Tuesday's Big 12 Conference home opener. Yes, the same Iowa State that upset Texas Saturday. TCU seems to be comfortable playing from behind.
This was not a good way for a top 20 team to lose. Two points in the last seven minutes? Blech!!!

Ugly Game of the night
Looks like another mid-major wins tonight. In a battle of two of the better teams in the Horizon league, Youngstown State (12-3 1-1) lost to Green Bay (12-3 2-0) 66-43.
Youngstown hit 11-48 of their shots (23%) and 5-21 (22%) three point shots. The Penguins' shooting was very cold. Brrrrrrrr. The 18 turnovers didn't help either.
Congrats to YSU for winning Saturday's UGOTN award.
