I just loved Geno's "Nah Nah" to everyone about the Big East after he heard that four teams got in. He was so happy about that. I'm sure he called his buddy Doug Bruno to give him a virtual high-five!! Gotta love it!!

Well,  I think the bracket is  great news for UConn. They open with Mercer, a typical first round rout against Mercer.

Then they get the winner of UCF and Florida. Florida is missing their best player and UCF is UCF. UConn knows them very well and while the game can be ugly, UCF doesn't have enough offense to beat the Huskies.

In the Sweet Sixteen, it will be either Indiana or Kentucky. I have said all season that Indiana is a little overrated and Kentucky, while on a roll, is a good matchup for UConn. 

Finally, if NC State gets to the Elite Eight, it's the weakest No. 1 seed. Well, maybe Louisville get's that label. 

I really like UConn's chances to get to another Final Four. We will worry about that when it happens! 

The Huskies are on the Saturday/Monday schedule. Times TBD.

I've been calling out the Tennessee fans all season. It's been a lot of fun. And they are going crazy over being a 4 seed and having to probably play 5 seed Oregon in the second round. It's a tough matchup for them. 

They are also pissed off about UConn going to Bridgeport. And they are complaining about DePaul making the tournament. And that Lobo said nice things about UConn. What a shock.

I'll be rooting hard for Buffalo, Tennessee's first round opponent.

The much maligned Big East Conference was able to get FOUR teams into the tournament. 

DePaul is playing Dayton in a play-in game on Wednesday.
Villanova is playing BYU.
Creighton is playing Colorado.

I do believe there is a good chance that all three teams win their games. So proud of UConn's conference mates. The Big East is on it's way up again.

After 30 games this season, UConnis shooting 48.9% from the field and 69.7% from the charity stripe. How does that compare to previous years...? Not well...

Consider:

2020-21 = 51.1% from field, 71.4% from free throw
2019-20 = 47.9% from field, 69.7% from free throw
2018-19 = 49.1% from field, 73.4% from free throw
2017-18 = 53.3% from field, 76.9% from free throw
2016-17 = 52.7% from field, 77.9% from free throw

The current shooting % is lower than all but one year. The free throw % matches the lowest total from those five years. So what does that all mean?  Probably nothing. None of the team from the better shooting teams won the national Championship. On the other hand, this years results were impacted by all the injuries on the Huskies. What do the more recent shooting stats look like?

Last 10 games = 52.5% from the field, 72.6% from the charity stripe.
Much better and more typical of the Huskies..!!
