Even my daughter (mother to Logan and Barrett)
is looking for my Blog!!!
GO UCONN!!!!!

It was really great to go to the game with family. It was down one family member as the 5 year old grandson had a tough day at his first basketball introduction the other day. So, he said to his mom, I don't want to go to the basketball game. I hate playing basketball and I don't want to go!!!
Oh well, the three of us had a great time!
First game ever for Logan and boy did he love it. He asked some great questions and ate some fun food!! My Daughter loved it too!
I did get to see my friend Cori, and I stopped by Spider's seat. He introduced me to my biggest fan Bill (I think). He reads my blog every day!! Thanks!!!!
Well, that was fun. First of all, no one got injured although at times there were flying bodies everywhere. It was a very physical game. But UConn gave as much as they got.
I wanted to say that everyone scored but Q had a horrible night. She didn't come close to making a basket. She was 0-9 from the field and 0-6 on threes. In 19 minutes. That is shooting way too much and I'm sure Geno is going to try to get her to focus on other parts of the game, and let the scoring come to her.
But other than that, it was a really well oiled machine against an overmatched Providence team. As my grandsone Logan said, UConn CRUSHED them!
Nika confinued her incredible season. She was a shooting guard in the first quarter and a facilitator the rest of the way. She had a double double with 10 points and 13 assists.
I'm bringing up Ice Brady earlier in my blog than usual. I thought it was one of her better games. She seemed more with it, in the right place at the right time. She scored 7 points and finally hit the boards with 5 rebounds. I love her smoth stroke. I just wish she was more confident in taking the outside shot more often.
While I'm on players I don't get do extole often, Amari DeBerry and Ina Bettencourt both came off the end of the bench and played well. DeBerry showed a couple of post moves for her 4 points and grabbed 2 rebounds in her 9 minutes. And Bettencourt showed the skills that were on display against Princeton last year. Happy for both players.
UConn's two stars had off games, but that didn't matter as the two starting freshmen more than made up for it.
Bueckers only had 13 points on 5-12 shooting and 1-7 on threes. She raised her hands to the gods after finally hitting a three pointer. But as usual she added to the team in other ways with 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
Edwards was quiet for most of the game before scoring 10 points in the second half. She ended up with 12 points on 6-8 shooting with only 4 rebounds. Not her typical game.
The freshmen....ahh..the freshmen. Shade and Arnold were just outstanding again. Ashlynn scored 17 points to lead the team going 7-13 from the field and 3-8 on threes. She added 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. She also had zero fouls. KK was great again scoring 16 points on 7-12 shooting and added 3 assists and 2 rebounds. And she was all over the court against on defense. She had 8 steals to lead the Huskies to a season high 20.
Providence is just not a very good team. But it sure was fun CRUSHING them!!!

Straight from the Dog
Her use of "tenses" makes it pretty clear she will be back. Listen closely to her words.
If Paige, Azzi, Griffin, come back to play with KK, Ashlynn, Ice, Q, and add in freshmen Cheli and Ziebell and you have an amazing roster.
Will Ducharme be able to play again? Maybe add in Strong? Crazy!!
Time will tell.
Milestone watch
Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.
UConn 102, Providence 8.
Net positives/minutes played: Ashlynn 22/33, Paige 21/28, KK 20/30, Nika 18/33, Aaliyah 14/20, Ines 6/9, Ice 4/19, Amari 2/9, Qadence -8/19.
Scary: Providence beat Seton Hall, who beat #25 ranked unlv by 30. Geno coaching up a storm right to the end - love it. Paige +21 on an off night-ridiculous!
What a starting five! Go Huskies!! Can’t wait to play Notre Dame at Gampel.
